Need Critique/Comments, Be Tough, I can handle it, I'm here to learn..

I photographed a wedding Sunday (will post a few shots in another thread later) and I was given the table centerpiece. These are a few of the flowers individually shot in my little home studio with different backdrops and lighting.



Also, Anyone know the names of the flowers?

Dana, those are beautiful...I have to say that I adore the 2nd one on the top row. The pink background really works well, as does the DOF, IMHO. I also like its composition better than the first one on the top row. I do wish the tips of the bottom petals were in frame, but regardless, I love it. I also love the 4th one on the top row...the lighting, shadow, and background just seem to click in that one. Not too crazy about the greenish/yellowish backgrounds on the last two, or the dark blue on the third one. The first one on the bottom row is lovely; if you choose to print it, you might consider cleaning up the inside of the petals nearest the left side (some dark specks). Overall, beautiful work...can't wait to see the wedding shots as well! :o)

Thanks so much Laurie! :) I have to agree with you, the ones you pointed out are my favourites as well, although my most favourite (and currently my desktop image) is the last on the top row. I have a few more shots of the 2nd on top row, where maybe the petals arent missing at the bottom, I might work on that later. Thanks for noticing the black specks, I never thought to clean them up :) Cheers

I like several of them very much. Your favorite is mine also. First Row - Top Right.

I too would like to know about your 'little Studio'.

My little studio consists of a few knee height tables, a black and a white backdrop cloth (1 yard each from walmart), a pack of multi-coloured Large Sized construction paper, white and coloured poster board, a gooseneck desk lamp I bought at walmart for under $10 (the inside of the shade is silver lined, 60watt bulb), pillowcase used to hang over lamp as softbox, and I have mirrors, glass, etc.. hehe Told ya it was small.. and CHEAP! Its just more of less for small still life, when I move into taking photos of models I plan to buy halogen lamps and large backdrops. I doubt I will invest in anything really expensive until I get my DSLR, then I plan to go all out. I bought this camera because of the advanced features and I want to learn how to use them properly before I spend thousands on a dslr, lenses, and a proper studio. Camera: Fuji S5000, Telephoto Lens, Wide Angle, UV Filter, FL Filter, & Polarizer Filter.
