This PC user has lost her mind and bought a MacBook Pro - just the 13-inch one, but I am making a list of which programs I need.
Looking for photo processing suggestions - Aperture, DxO, Lightroom?
Oh, and a really, really good tutorial site on operating that alien machine. |

Your MacBook comes with iPhoto. Start there and add Photoshop Elements (or transfer a Photoshop license from the PC if you have one). |

When I (fortunately) switched to Mac some years ago i read this blog:
//www.davidalison.com/
which, though a bit dated at this point, was extremely helpful in learning the workflow of the "alien machine." though you'll need to start back at the beginning...
hope it helps :) |

Apple's support site has tutorials on basic Mac operation. Macworld has a Help & Tips section. |

I think you'll enjoy your new platform. For b&w photography look into //www.niksoftware.com/silverefexpro/usa/entry.php
This works very well with PS Elements.
Enjoy

If someone were to ask me what software to get for photography I would say Lightroom 4 and photoshop elements 10.
You should be pretty set with just those two.
If you find your work takes you more into the photoshop world then you can upgrade to the full program which will not be too alien as it is similar to elements.
This is exactly what I have done after moving from PC to an iMac desktop.
