Kinda hard to tell what direction I'm heading in at this point .. but its at a 5.3 now with 1 comment .. yuk .. hopefully this isn't foreshadowing of my score to come. :)
How's everyone else doing?

5.0 at one vote, went up to 5.5 or so, dropped back to 5.0 at 19, and now at 4.73 with 23.

my prediction is a low scoring challenge especially in comparison with vp, im really struggling to give out 7's so far... a lot of the pictures of just signs with no emotion or narrative or anything else for that matter arent appealing to me personally.

slowly climbing...was around 5.5 but
creeping up on the 6 mark at 5.9565 with 23 votes.
At this rate it will top out around 30 or so.
LOL
Now I can go home - just hit 6.0000
:)
And wonderful to see up to 6.250 the next morning!

I think you're right
I've given out literally only a couple 7's and 1 8 so far ... still looking though :)
My score is creeping up ... 5.45

I wasn't expecting anything great, just to pass a 5.0, which really shouldn't be that hard.
All I ask is, if you're giving a photo that has neon as it's main subject, and has clear focus and decent photographic elements, explain your low scores.

I need a holiday away from all this its starting to get depressing. its only peoples opinions but its a public reflection on my work and judging by my pictures and scores to date I SUCK!!!!

| bloody appalling. just got off my high of a top 10 finish in the VP comp, only to be shot down in big engulfing acid enriched flames with a so far mediocre 4.3. ka-BOOM. tsck. |

I hear you loud and clear - Likewise I am - 6.9 in VP, 6.5 in Botany and 4 in Neon - I can honestly say it's one of my favorite photos too!

I'm only 4.7 but after going through some pictures I have a strange imporession this score will be relatively not that bad.
I think this will be a very low scored challenge, as there are very few good pics and a lot of average and poor. The subject was too literal (imho), and many members took it too literally, which made the challenge boring to cast votes. I think in general it was the poorest challenge I voted for so far.

Can't say I'm overwhelmed by the entries, there are one or two good images, but there are a lot of just plain old 'ok' (mine included).
I found this a tough challenge, with little room to 'enhance' the concept.
It will be a low scoring round in my opinion. |

I personally didn't like this theme .. I'm managing to pull of a 5.9 heading to 6 at the moment .. so I can't complain .. but voting on this challenge was soo monotonous and not really original .. it seemed like 80% of the pictures were a different variation of just one image. Ah well .. there were also a few good gems in there that I pegged for a ribbon. (mine hopefully included. .. haha)

Well, as for me I didn't expect to do well, as this was a difficult challenge for me. I had no clue how to be creative but wanted to enter as this is part of the learning/growing process. I'm happy I even got a vote LOL

I really didn't like the challenge theme at first glance, but then I read the details: "...Neon is also used to describe an extremely bright color." What's really unfortunate is that it's pretty clear to me that not too many other folks read that. Comments are telling me I've missed the theme. I'm guessing they expected a brightly lit glass tube or a fuel-efficient Chrysler product.
