Stupid school security guard gave me a flippin parking ticket because I didn't have a parking pass when I clearly had the registration form on my dash filled out ready to go!

And now I can't get a parking permit because I have to pay my ticket before I get the freaking permit!

THIS IS COMPLETE AND UTTER BS!!!!!!!!!

Here's how you should have dealt with that. ;)

Proper procedure for dealing with parking enforcement

See, college really does prepare you for life. And you thought it was about the classes didn't you? I'd suggest a trip to the administrative building for your next lesson. ;)

I wish that would happen to me... I've already lost my temper with them when they said, "it's just a ticket, pay it and move on."

Lemme see... ignorance is a lack of awareness relative to a specific issue.

Nope, security guard seemingly knew exactly what he was doing.

Sorry my friend, you might want to try that shoe on again to see if it fits.

I really don't understand the point here, sorry. The college uses parking fees as a source of revenue; you pays your money and you gets your slot. Why on earth would expect a completed application on the dashboard to substitute for paying the fee? If THAT was gonna work, who'd ever bother paying?

In the same way I tried to explain that I was only "borrowing" the bags of money I took from the bank. Where is the trust these days?! :P

I was really ticked when the carted Art of to jail. I was a witness -- I heard him say that he was just borrowing it and will bring it back in about 55 years. :(

The thing is, the parking permit is free!

People with authority, but no real power are dangerous. Consider this a warning, it only cost you a few bucks.... You're probably lucky the guy didn't rip you out of your car, beat you, and then conjure up a way to charge you with assault, you know, since you need to be punished for not respecting his authority and mouthing off. And, no, I'm not kidding.

If it's any consolation, his life probably sucks, badly. Of course, if it were me, and I was really as angry as you seem, I'd probably put some effort into making his life suck just a little more, perhaps you could follow him around some, find out if he's doing anything he shouldn't be (and he probably is, especially with the rules at that place)... Then just see to it that his superiors are notified about it... Then again, unless you're really pissed, it's probably not worth your time.

...You must live in a very sad place if you view this type of approach to being that which the authorities would prescribe or condone. Rather than dealing with it in this venue, it would be best that you take your own advice, record this type of behaviour and report it (anonymously, of course) to some higher authority that you trust... assuming of course that you trust any of them.

Should anyone opt to follow this advice, do make certain you familiarize yourself with the laws regarding stalking, harassment, invasion of privacy and the like. I would hate for anyone to fall prey to the abuse of process shown above. :O)

Yes, I call it the Earth. You must live somewhere nice, where people don't act like people. Yep, report the guy to his superiors for something that won't get him canned... That'll make your life MUCH better, and most certainly will cause him to think twice before messing with you again.

:) Ray, last time I checked, watching someone at work, when they work where you work or go to school, is hardly stalking, harassment, or invasion of privacy. I didn't suggest that he bug the guy's computer and check the contents of his safe. I'm also quite interested that you find the same tactics that the "good" guys use to be a "Abuse of process" when the tables are turned. Very interesting indeed.. Here I was thinking that abuse of process would be making friends with the guy, spiking his sandwich with something that will make him fail a UA, and then reporting him for drug use... THAT seems like an abuse of process to me.

Then again... You have mentioned previously that you are or were somehow affiliated with the RCMP... As you might imagine, that does tend to make me wonder if you're just playing dumb, since there's no way a cop, or anyone in the business, couldn't realize that this is pretty much standard operating procedure. Or do things really work that differently up there?

I guess they are different up here.

Abuse of process, conduct unbecoming, illegal activities are investigated by a Review Board that is totally separated from the police environment (they do NOT have any former police officers on the board) and unlike Joe Citizen, a police officer can be the subject of double jeopardy.

While it is true that I retired in 1996, I can assure you that in my 30 years in the RCMP I do not personally know of any single instance of behaviour that did not go unpunished.

It is quite conceivable that things have changed since my retirement, but I would think it would for the most part be for the better as there is much greater scrutiny today than there ever was.

You guys do keep making Canada look attractive, freakin love you Canuks. You're probably right, it's more than likely that things do work differently up there, you folks really seem to come off as a nice lot in general.

ETA:

May I simply point out that clean cops, or whatever you were, are pretty much the only real threat to dirty cops... Of course you didn't personally know of any single instance that went unpunished, because I'm pretty confident that if you had known, you would have ensured that it didn't go unpunished.... Hence, I am of the opinion that you probably were rather unlikely to have been privy to the information about some of the things that may, or may not, have been going on under your nose..

By the way, just so you know I'm not insane... These are all local incidents of police corruption, two from THIS YEAR alone(and these are not the only ones, just the ones that came to mind immediately and were high-profile)

//www.nbcmiami.com/news/Miami-Beach-Police-Officer-Arrested-on-Racketeering-Fraud-Charges-168749486.html
//www.duiattorney.com/news/5258-florida-police-officers-suspended-after-framing-woman-in-dui-accident/
//www.miamiherald.com/2012/04/25/2767423/six-arrested-miami-beach-officials.html

And it's been going on here since 1986 at least, probably much longer. Corruption is rampant, you can just about tell the dirty cops simply by looking - anyone with a uniform on is a decent bet..

And of course, my other home, Albuquerque, is arguably only worse. I've personally had run-ins with dirty cops - and it's a real REAL shitty experience.
