How can I put this nicely...The soldiers in Afghanistan are keeping the terrorist over there...do you remember 9/11 that can happen again if we give them a chance..Under Obama we will have it play out like the Libyan embassy bombing

I really think Biden was rude in his delivery

I haven't watched it yet but from the few articles I have read it was a close debate.

Excited to see it. :)

I can assure you that the same amount of people made up their minds after watching this debate as did after Obama-Romney. Zero.

Than being said, Joe wiped the floor with Ryan, who looked uncomfortable trying to answer with the approval of the Romney camp. he did have some righteous neck moves when he went to make a point, though.

Actually it looks like a lot of people changed/made up their minds after the Romney/Empty Chair debate: Romney̢۪s Strong Debate Performance Erases Obama̢۪s Lead

I'm looking forward to next week when Obama has to explain the Libya debacle. His Jedi mind tricks have suddenly stopped working on even the liberal media.

Not sure what debate you were watching, Paul. I saw it as a "meh, draw" event which will have zero effect on voters when Obama really needs to counter his performance from last week and change the subject from his failed foreign policy. Polls show the VP debate was fairly even, but mostly Ryan won by a tiny margin.
"A CNN survey of registered voters who watched the debate and had previously agreed to be interviewed found Paul Ryan the winner, 48 percent to 44 percent, but that was well within the survey's five percentage point margin of error." ~Huffington Post

I fully expect Obama to be on his game next week and Romney might flub it. If that happens, you won't see me sitting here trying to spin it. It'd be nice if people could take an objective view of the events - nobody expects anyone to switch sides and we can disagree on ideology, but let's try and be honest about events that occur in front of our eyes.

just as they said post-debate:

Obama followers will say Biden won that debate
Romney followers will say Ryan won the debate.

interesting.

I do think there were points when both candidates were "under pressure", "nervous", etc.

like Biden and his over compensating smile... just makes it seems that he's covering up lies, and his stuttering... nerves cause he couldn't answer.

but Ryan said that one line OVER and OVER. about how if voters wont believe your speech, put fear in them about the other opponent. saying it once or twice makes sense... but repeatedly made it sound like a cop out.
he was also out on the spot about HOW they were going to initiate the tax breaks. sure, 20% sounded great... but when asked HOW it was going to be implemented/how it would work/policies and proceedures with the metrics of it... he couldn't give a straight answer. worrisome.

overall... both had some good points and moments of difficulty.
me? if I WAS voting... it would be for Romney...
but I would choose the grocery bagger at the local store over Obama.
(any fyi ... that's a joke... don't be so literal. but I do despise Obama that much. just saying.)

im a Romney supporter and i feel as if Ryan was completely overmatched. i didn't get the impression that Biden was nervous at all, when he responded he was very succinct, very informed. he knew exactly what he was talking about and he believed it himself. His laughing, if not sincere, was a brilliant way to win over the audience with "what you are saying is laughable and way off base". a couple of times he stopped his laughing and gave stare of disbelief to what Ryan just said, a "haha, that's dumb, that's wrong, that's... wait, what? wtf? you seriously just said that??" kind of look.

Ryan, when pressed, avoided committing to specifics and Biden called him on it a couple of times, jumping on top of Radditz'z pressure.

The only way Ryan would have one was to provide specifics, answer the questions, which he never did. he kept circling, circling never landing that "take that" zinger. he had a few good lines but Biden deflected them all.

Obama owes Biden big time.

I agree that there were times when Biden's expressions were as you stated... however... I got the impression he was trying to "laugh it off" due to being put in a rough spot. I DO think that Ryan could have done better. But I like the "sarcastic/smart @ss" approach Ryan took. I think that Biden is a complete moron, but he's a good manipulator, which is what wins it over in politics.
Unfortunately, that manipulation is what keeps the voters "dumbed down" and Obama's numbers higher.

But, that's just my opinion.

Gotta say, however, I LOVED when Ryan said to Biden "Sometimes the words come out of your mouth the wrong way". Biden looked shocked! Haha

Mike...unfortunately....(and I hate to admit it) but I think you are right. Biden helped Obama out big time last night

Biden may be a number of things but what he definitely is not is an idiot. While i can see why you want to think it was a nervous laugh, it was anything but, Ryan never put him in any predicaments, every time Biden responded he knew what he was talking about, if anything he may have been arrogant, but he is in a position to be arrogant, he knows how the government works, he know how foreign policy works, he know how taxes work, its been his job for longer than i've been alive.

Ryan has the task of proving his way is better and he didn't show that at all. Biden took Ryan's best zinger and brushed it off, "yeah, ok you got me, that was good..." and moved on. he knew Ryan jabbed him hard and instead of retaliating he stuck it out knowing Ryan had just fired his best punch, He knew Radditz was going to continue to take Ryan to task and all he had to do was climb on top as well when he could.

everyone is focusing on the laugh, but what they are missing is the tact in which he spoke when he did. he was direct, he was assertive he believed what he said, he wasnt looking for a zinger, he didnt need to, all he had do was stand his ground and be convincing, to show the people that knows what he is talking about.

I just checked out Politifact, and it looks like Ryan not only lied more, but was further from the truth in his lies. Man I wish they could be penalized for shit like this.

WHAT?????

You mean politicians LIE?

The nerve of them.

This is why I don't follow politics (most of the time).
They all piss me off.
Republicans, Democrats, Independents, ALL OF THEM

ETA: Just realized my sarcasm is getting the best of me.

And that wasn't a jab at you, Venser. Just a little over sarcastic.
I hate that we can't add something to show sarcasm. :P

that's fair, you are entitled to your opinion. i try to give respect where it is deserved, i disagree with his politics, but i can't in good conscience throw those terms around when they arent deserved.

yeah the politifacts tweets kept coming through online while i watched it. it was funny reading them.

in fact i think everything that was said in the first debate was mostly untrue.

Technically speaking, one of the definitions of "moron" is someone who lacks good judgement. Hence my reason for that particular term.
I think he lacks the judgement necessary to be VP of our nation.
He's good (and I use that term loosely) at his job because he does know the government. He knows what people WANT to hear. He's a master manipulator (as I have previously stated).

Though, this girl
<--------
will not fall for his tactics and manipulation.

Just sayin.

Yeah, again it was the same though. Romney told more and bigger lies than Obama. At least Obama hit the green side a couple of times (full truths).

Technically speaking, that is incorrect. Moron was originally a term referring to intelligence. Idiot and imbecile were also and each denoted a certain range of IQ. Current definitions merely speak to a person being "stupid".

its shows too, Romney and Ryan are trying to spins words, while Biden and Obama are stating the truth (mostly). my BS meter wasn't going off when either of them spoke while i was trying to grab what the hell Romney and Ryan were dancing around.

again I prefer Romney and Ryan, but IMO, Obama won the first debate and Biden mopped the floor with Ryan last night, in part becuase Biden had Martha Raddatz on his side playing journalist and not moderator, she called his bluff and it showed.

It would be hard to moderate someone who's blatantly lying, especially if you're an intelligent reporter.

my original statement was not incorrect. if you would notice, I specifically said ONE of the definitions.
the original term "moron" was used referring to intelligence, referring to IQ and having a child-like mind.
it was a psychology term way back when.

NOW the term happens to refer to mental capability AND judgement (or lack there of) as I stated.

but thanks for trying to clear that up

I have yet to see it still (due to being swamped with schoolwork) but reading this makes me think they both did an "okay" job... Nothing great from each but nothing bad either.

Seems like everyone on my Facebook thinks the same thing. Everyone said it was evenly matched (of course with the exception of the few "Obama fan boys" and "Romney fan boys").

I should have time today after my workout to watch it so I might bring my opinion here after I watch it.

No problem. Just afraid you were being a moron in your choice of words...

I think Mike's point was that nobody really things Biden lacks in "mental capability". Your definition seems to, by your own words, be and AND thing not an OR thing.
