Inspired by a lot of the photography on this site, I've decide my girlfriend and I will go to Iceland for my 30th Birthday. I'll be staying in Reykjavik at the end of Jan and basically have 4 full days and nights to fill with doing stuff :)
I have already booked a superjeep tour to find the Northern Lights and the chap says if we don't see anything the first time we'll go back the following nights until we do :)
Other than that I'm sure we'll go to the Blue Lagoon for a few hours and I guess try to do the Golden Circle, but whether or not to rent a car or go on a tour, I'm not sure yet.
So any other suggestions or things to do, places to eat etc. would be greatly received.
(oh, and I bought a Tokina 11-16mm which will be going with me, so I hope that will do me well).

Days are rather short in Jan, so when you want to see something, make sure you're already there when the sun is rising. But a great place to be and I hope you'll have a lot of (photographic) fun over there.

If you rent a vehicle - suggest a biggish 4 wheel drive. My wife and I spent a month driving around the whole country in summer and were glad to have 4 wheel drive. In the winter it would seem even more prudent.
Iceland's a wonderful country. I hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did. |
