I think I am being judged on the subject matter of my photo not the photo itself, and I find that to be a crying shame among fellow artists. If they would only read the title, I think it would make more sense to them. |

thats the problem. the title isnt supposed to make people realise it fits the challenge. the photo should do that. if the photo doesnt show hope in any way, then people will score it low. you can depend on the title to get your marks... |

Info taken from the challenge rules:
While voting, users are asked to keep in highest consideration the topic of the challenge and base their rating accordingly. |

Um, that's kind of why there are challenge *topics*.. to give people challenges on how to convey a message with their photography. I mean, I could submit a powerful and compositionally strong photograph of the Iraq war in a challenge for "Nature".. but should I really expect to be voted high on the fact that it's a great photograph? Do you see where I'm coming from here?
I think the photographs that get rated the highest.. (and this is from observing the winners over the last few months before deciding to start joining the challenges).. are photographs that are strong in most areas. Good titles, strong representation of the challenge, strong technically, and strong artistically. All rolled in to one. If a person can keep all of that in mind, then they'll probably be on the path to higher rated photographs in the future..
Good luck to *your* photographs in the future, not matter what you decide to do with what I've said! :) |

but, the title tells how it was shot, I can't say here, but it was very difficult, to do. thus the title, with out the title it is just a photo that could have been shot any old way, it is HOW it was shot that I feel makes this special. |

I don't think you should rely on a title. I also dislike the fact that people vote on a title.
This is a photograhy challenge not the art of literary.

Hi I found the hope challenge quite difficult I really found it hard to come up with a composition, maybe a lack of imagination on part at the moment! I think hope like anything else meaningful is such a personal thing, some of the photos just dont shout hope to me, but they may be well shot and I can see thought has gone into them, so should personal gut instinct and pull towards a favoured entry score higher than one that is technically better?
Some of the neon entries which I thought were excellent scored fairly low, it was surprising!
Anyhow have fun! :)

Just to add my two cents - I usually don't read the titles.
I take what I can from the photo, and mostly vote with that.
I mostly read them when I have no idea what it is, and what is
the connection to the challenge. It happens a lot in thise one. LOL. |
