There's a new CanonShooter in town! hehehe!!!
I would like to introduce all of you nice people to My Dad! He has been my shooting partner for the past couple of years. Though he is modest, he takes excellent photo's and is an accomplished local photographer having sold several shots of his native town at his first gallery viewing recently. Encourage him to post some of his work and get involved on the site as a registered user. I would love it if he would put on the blue shirt and really get into the challenges!
His areas of photography enjoyment include street, abandoned buildings, local landscapes, nature and HDR!
Welcome to DPC Dad!

perfect time to join if he's into street photography.
The Style of Jagar is open to non-paying members, a great first challenge for him (just maybe remind him he has to take the pic after 12:01am local time today) |

Welcome! I encourage you to enter some challenges, and show us some of your work. dpchallenge is a great learning experience because it forces you to continually be out taking pictures - different subject for each challenge, time limits in which you can take the picture you enter (must be a new picture - not one you took awhile back), it forces you out of your comfort zone (not all challenges are subjects you are familiar with, or are styles you have mastered), it forces you to keep within certain editing rules (read the rules carefully - the site council can be a bit brutal about enforcing them, but as I'm sure you've learned over time, an unenforced rule is worthless), and it gives you access to a wide variety of people from all over the world, with all sorts of different styles, likes, and dislikes, of all ages, and at all levels of accomplishment - from the learner to the professional, working with all sorts of different cameras - from phone camera to point and shoot to pro-sumer to DSLR to professional.
So come ahead, jump right in. We don't bite (well, most of us - I'd tell you who, but you'll probably encounter them pretty quickly anyhow, and they might be nice to you. I wouldn't expect that, but there's always hope...) ;-p

Hi everyone and thanks for the nice welcome! And a special thanks to my son for nagging me to join here LOL! I put on my "blue shirt" this morning and I'm trying to figure out how to set up my portfolio, so I hope to have some shots up soon. I look forward to doing some challenges and just hanging out with at least a few people that don't think having an expensive camera makes you a great photographer. Oh, and by the way, my son is the modest one, he's an darn good photographer himself and I learn a thing or two from him every so often. |
