There are now 7 photographers advertising wedding coverage in my town of 4500 people. Plus I"m sure a few that do it on the side and don't actively advertise. There will never be enough weddings to support 7 businesses. 15 years ago the AVERAGE wedding photog got paid $3500 for shooting a wedding w/ an album and some prints. Today it's 1/3 that.

If the average senior will spend $700 on pictures why charge $200 and shoot and burn the results? Why give up $500? Why 'dilute' the market to the point people begin to think that $200 is a 'fair price' and won't pay more?

Who benefits from this lowering of the price and quality of photography? Photographers? Nope. And if you claim to be a photographer then you too should see that this is bad news for you as well as the industry you wish to be a part of.
