Long-time lurker, first-time participant. After some years of enjoying the photos, individuals and conversations on this terrific site, I'd like to join in the fun. When I get updated to Lightroom 5 so that I can utilize my new 6d, and figure out the how-tos, I hope to venture a few images. New equipment = better photographer, or so I've heard (emoticon). In the meantime I can express my appreciation for the photos and drop my two cents in now and then. I'm very happy to be here. My name is Rich and I'm from NYC.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome. It feels good to move forward from the caboose.
Tanguera... does your cousin wear glasses, have a chipped front tooth and snore? Could be me.

Hehehe, not yet, he doesn't :)

I have family back there and visit occasionally. A lot of DPCers make it a point to meet up with locals when they travel, so I may meet you yet :)

my advice..... write, comment, respond, look at profiles, make your photography, by all means lurk, but mostly vote when you have time.

I, for one, absolutely LOVE your username! (Could be because I like to shoot both street and pigeons... go figure...)

And thanks for taking the time to make so many comments! Very much appreciated.

I didn't think pigeons ate fruit. :/

Maybe if it was in-season ...

Thanks for the bread, Art. I know, check's in the mail. Fun fact: I actually am pigeon-toed.
The fruit bowl, nevertheless, is also appreciated, GeneralE. I'll barter it for some raisin pumpernickel.
Some of my favorite people from my lurking days have been so kind to extend a warm welcome. Thank you.
When I get my lightroom 3 updated to 5 I hope it'll be easier to enter some photos. Have to get all my old photos onto the external hard drive first. My nephew (of course) has tried to learn me, but the extreme porosity of my brain in these matters has been a hindrance. My wife, though, has some inkling that may allow me to use my 7D and find my way through. Not such fun fact: Last month my camera mysteriously fell off the shoulder sling but, though dented, still appears to be working. The 70-200 f/4L didn't make it. The universe went dark for awhile, but I'm now in about the fourth stage of grieving..... trying to grind my own lens. This event accelerated my desire for a full frame camera, and I acted on B&H's wonderful offer to provide me with a 6D and a 24-105L and a 43 pound printer (which I can't use until I one day get windows 8) for $2100. All this grandiosity comes from working overtime.
Lastly, I've been blabbing a lot, here and in critiquing pictures; please don't jump to the conclusion that I have photographic talent.
