I'm fairly new here, but can't seem to find opinions. I've been using Photoshop 5.0 for eons cause it does everything I need it to do, but am realizing that it's save features are hurting my enterability to the contests here. (Killing the EXIF data)
I have 5.0 through a less than perfect source, so the upgrade price is not available to me and the full price of CS is cost prohibitive as the budget is still stinging from purchasing the 300D last month.
I was just curious if anyone has any insight on why PSP9 is worse/better than CS? I've used old versions of PSP also so the learning curve (especially since I don't do alot of advanced editing) is pretty small.
Just looking for info and opinions. Thanks. |

Your challenge entry does not have to retain the EXIF data. Just keep your original from the camera for that.

9? Don't know anything about 9 ...
I've been using 8 since about a year ago, and it's streets ahead of 5. Different planet.

I love PSP. I'm using 8 currently, didn't realize 9 was out now. I prefer it over photoshop, though I have both. (I use photoshop for color profile work)
But photoshop 5 should be able to turn off the auto-save feature.

There was a thread last week about psp 9. The basic improvement is being able to select individual undos instead of undoing everything to get back to that one step you did 10 minutes ago. If you order 8 JASC will ship 9 for free or so I heard. A friend just got it. I'll let her run it for awhile and then update mine in a few months. I love psp too. Ever since the days when I was super poor to now. I could easily afford ps now but I've been so spoiled with psp, couldn't think of switching. |

thanks cpanaioti, I was mostly sure that it didnt', but wanted to be absolutely sure.
Good to hear that there's not really anything missing in Paint Shop Pro vs Photoshop, especially because of the price difference. I'm sure most of the differences are personal preferences.
Thanks again. |

I personally prefer PSP over PS. To me it is easier to work with then Photo shop you have more control over your editing. PSP 9 is now on the market and I just got it. I have not played around in it but I am sure I will not be disappointed. Also if you are into PSP you may want to search the web for cool filter plugins. |
