I have a SanDisk 32GB SD card with corrupt files that I would like to recover. I last formatted it yesterday morning in my Olympus EM1. It appeared fine all day, viewed the images in camera on the way home. On transferring the files to my MAC I noticed the dates on the files were being recorded incorrectly but I let it finish. And they won't open. In camera the error I get is Picture Error! Photoshop says the jpegs file are corrupted and the RAW file format is not recognized. I have tried it in different card readers, different cameras... all the same thing.
Please recommend file recovery software or other reliable source so I can try and get my pictures back. Thank you. |

I found the MAC First Aid .. I can verify the disk and it says I have used 7.5GB and have 0 files. I have the option to click Repair Disk? I haven't tried it yet. |

Hi! I've used this with success. Will work with MAC, Windows or Linux. Use via a card reader.
//www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download . It'll give you small thumbnail jpgs and original files (RAW or JPG and even video MOV)
My card, a 8gb Sandisk Extreme CF was running low, I hadn't noticed and started to record video. I guess it reached a part of storage it wasn't supposed to and the FAT corrupted. Who knows. This was on location and upon trying to preview I got a corrupt message, so naturally nervous. I always do a full format after copying the data off. Won't risk using the card again. Collecting dust now ;) but the images were all salvageable (other than the original file names).

I have had great success over the years with recovery software made by R-Tools Technology and a product called R-Studio. //www.r-studio.com It's not the most user friendly app, but I've used it successfully a number of times on the PC and Mac recovering disks that were unreadable by other "recovery" applications. Just a few weeks ago, I used it to recover a CF card that was totally unreadable by my camera and the Mac's standard disk utility. All photos were 100% recovered. Give it a shot. |
