Take a moment while voting and when an image strikes a cord with you, write haiku to bring it all to the fore. Be in the moment and haiku will come to you.
A straight up haiku, expressive and simple, may be to your tastes. You may prefer the paiku, a haiku of praise for the photo you are viewing. There is also the faiku (ahem), which is the way to express your criticism concisely and (hopefully) poetically.
Much of the haiku form has been allowed to change on its incorporation into English, mostly for the better. I tend to stick to the 5-7-5 syllable form, although 3-5-3 (syllables) is popular in English. A 2-3-2 form (for stresses, not syllables) is useful in maintaining rhythm if that suits you too.
Here are some in the moment haikus of my own. Feel free to post yours here (and optionally attach it to the image itself in a comment).
dark fluidity
envelopes aureola
during ascension
distant still they go
rainbows wrapped around the sun
dancing with the clouds
nigh nor silent down
whence the wing, the guiding sun
there the void alight
reaching for the coat
front or back, it's all the same
that's where softness lives

I believe the wording I used was "30 days or less". It'll all come back. :-) |

I don't like haikus.
They're a total waste of time.
So I won't write one.

Um... it was a haiku. I didn't say it was a good one. :-)

Does he dream or laugh or cry

You read my mind. After you set me off on the haiku quest a couple of weeks back I did a lot of reading about the form. I'd come across haiku before but knew little about it. And then after our haiku moments in chat yesterday I thought today that it would be fun to post a haiku project on DPC Forums. You beat me to it! "Great minds think alike", as they say. (Or is it "fools don't differ"?)

I really did like the haiku, paiku and faiku (ROFL) you left on my wildlife entry yesterday!!
I received your letter today and will post my haiku on an image of yours tomorrow. (Today, my brain is full of Lionel Richie, who I'm off to see in concert in a few hours, and is not in good haiku form).

Triple-whammy haiku distilling life at DPC

Which begs the question, is 'million' two syllables or three? |

I had to say it to myself several times counting on my fingers: 2 1/2, rounded up to three, I think. |

How do I post the image I'd like to add an Haiku to? |

Hmmm. I would still say, for instance, 'elision' has four of them despite your theory and quickly mocked up 'web thesaurus'. ;) |

In sorrow when you still see
A small sign of hope

Seeds of hope always
mature into graceful blooms
when nurtured with love.
