I was wondering, with the crop factor on digital cameras, does the minimum recommended shutter speed formula for hand held change at all? I was told it should be the equivalent of the max focal length of the lens you are using, but given that a 50mm lens is now a 75mm lens on a D70, should I be shooting at 1/75 sec minimum ?

| The answer is yes, but its different for everyone... it's a 'rule of thumb' for handholding. |

I shoot comfortably at 1/60 with a 50mm on my D70. I can get consistantly tack sharp images.
If your confident with your hand holding ability at slow shutters, you should be just fine.

Ive had no problem with sharpness with the 50mm, and sometimes I even go down to 1/30 when indoors... and still no problem. Maybe I have tripods hands or something :-O

that "rule of thumb" seems to be less of an issue as your focal length goes down (to a point)... at anything under 70mm, i can shoot at 1/30 or 1/40 and still get sharp images... but even at 18mm, i can't shoot 1/20 or i get blurry shots :)
on the other hand, when i use my telephoto lense, if i'm at 300mm, i need to be shooting 1/400th or better to get a somewhat sharp image. maybe my technique sucks :)
