Now I know these guys no longer play for the Yankees but I wouldn't want my kids to look at them as role models just because they're winners. For that matter I wouldn't want my children looking at any athlete as a role model, Yankee or not. |

Ignoring the decided turn for the serious this thread took that I didn't anticipate, I will point out that you heard it here first:

I'm sorry, did you Sox fans say something?
:D
Clara- who's yer daddy now Pedro? |
We decided to let you guys get to be up 3 games to none. After we win, the ghosts will be afraid to come back.
Really, that is the plan. |
FWIW: There are two games that I would like to have mulligans on: the Red Sox getting killed about a million to six in G3 and tonight, where the Yankees weren't at the top of their form. This rivalry deserves seven nailbiters every year before we put the season to bed.
We'll see you guys next year. Thanks for the entertainment. Yankees/Red Sox is the best series/matchup that baseball will have for the next 30 years. |

As always - THIS WAS A GREAT SERIES!! Even though I'm a life long Red Sox fan, BOTH teams should receive congrats for a great series that kept the fans at the edge of their seats. This is even better than world series play!! Hopefully the Sox will get that elusive ring! |

I disagree. Yes, it was a "down to the last minute as usual brawl", but neither team was at top form. If Mariano hadn't blown BOTH save opportunities, we would have won. I would be more satisfied with the Yankees loosing, if both teams had shown their best. But they didn't. While a 19-8 win was fun, I'd rather have a 4-3 game win. Pitching was pittiful on both sides, and the batting was mediocre. It doesn't matter how many guys you get on base if you can't bring them home.
And this is a general rant, not directed at either team. Last year was better. Hopefully next year will be too.
Bring on the Astros vs. The Red Sox.
FWIW...I'm a Yankees fan. Was at game 6. Pics will be posted tomorrow.

Stephanie, I can't wait to see your photographs. I've been away from New England for about 5 years now and the Yankee/Sox games have always been so exciting. I understand what you mean by mediocre play, but these teams are always doing something to make it fun to watch. |

I didn't know that fun was getting your heart ripped out and stomped on. Jeter puts it best. The season is a waste if you don't walk away with a world series ring. Oh well...onto next year. ;)
I'll let you know when the pics are posted.

Being a Yankees fan means never having to say you're sorry. ;)
And your daddy is still Big Babe Ruth. Don't forget all those B's in the Astros line-up. :)

Serious props to Curt Schilling. That was one heck of a game 6. There are two people in the Sox orginization who I admite. Theo Epstien is bar none one of the best GMs in the game. He's done a great job. And Curt Schilling is just a class act. I hope he can pitch before mid-season next year. I have a feeling he seriously toasted his ankle.

Hmmm.... "wait till next year" is starting to become a common refrain in the Bronx.

At least we consistantly have a next year.
Who's going to be managing Philly again next season?

We're talking about post-season Baseball... any mention of the Phillies is decidedly off-topic. Stop threadjacking! ;-)

So sorry, I thought we were talking about losing baseball teams. You are totally correct. There's no point to discussing Philly in the off season.
Now the true dilema, do I actually root for Boston since I'm an AL fan?

Ball players are not the only thing he buys. The Boss has a felony conviction for illegal campaign contributions in his past. Is that the kind of role model you want for your kids LtHousLady? Or do you want your children looking up to the steroids users like Sheffield and Giambi?
One of the most pleasing aspects of the series was the improved quality of the umpireing. Jeter and Torre will just have to get used to it. But for the rest of us baseball fans it's nice to see the guys in blue trying harder to get it right and not acting like they are intimadated by ghosts in the Bronx. Where were these guys when Tony Tarasco needed an honest call? |

I have to admit. Gotta give credit to the Sox. Being the hard core Yankee fan that I am, I have to say they deserve to be in the Series, the same way the Yanks deserved to lose this one, considering they were 3 outs away in game 4.
Yankees had a choke hold, and couldn't finish them off. In all honesty, the last 4 games showed how good Boston has been all year, and showed how shaky the Yankees pitching has been. Not too mention leaving men on base, and swinging at the first pitch.
All I can say is next year is a new chapter.....
I just hope to see one thing...... Get rid of BROWN! He was a no good aquisition. Boston may have stolen a World Series from us, but Brown stole 15 million dollars this year from the Yanks. Maybe he should try punching his head in a wall. LOL. And Joe Torre putting in Javier (The guy who lead the American League in giving up HR's) was rediculous.
Later...

Why didn't he use El Duque? |

|

You know something Coolhar? Thats what me and all the guys were saying. Who knows. All I know is putting in Javier with bases loaded is dumb. The guy lead the American League, or maybe even the majors, in HR's giving up. And against Johnny Damon, he gave up back to back home runs in July. The guy already had a history with Johnny, and I don't know if Torre had a brain fart, or just didn't do his scouting reports right.
El Duque was the best fit. You should only bring Javier into a new inning with bases empty.
It was a silly move.
But having Brown on the staff was just as bad.
