my entry for communication seemed a good ideac at the time ,but loks presently like a lead balloon. Can I now delete this image from the challenge, or, am i stuck with the humiliation? the image is obviously mine when viewed.

On a serious note, and I know it's explicitely stated on the site rules, I think beeing able to unsubmit once the voting has started can help relieve the voters of watching so many pics, commenting on none (I got 0 comments on parts, neither good nor bad) and voting poorly.

I don't mind having a bad score (actually, every single one I have are pretty bad ;) but in cases like "Parts" you got tired of watching before start when you see 44something entries

I have regretted entering certain pictures but believe it is good for the learning curve, maybe one will think more carefully on the picture selected before posting next time. Why would you want to unsubmit, you must have a reason, is it because it is not doing well ? is it not one of your best efforts? whatever the reason, just learn from the mistakes and be more selective next time.
That is how I see it.

Sure! I think twice before entering, but when you find nobody understood your point of view, why bother them when there are so many cell phone and tied cans pictures to rate? ;)

sorry, guess I just needed to rant somewhere!

"Gaming" the system by requesting a DQ and not responding for the purpose of removing your photo from the challenge is against the rules and could result in a suspension.

If you enter a lot of challenges, the votes on any one photo will have a negligible effect on your average score.

You go ahead Carlos, your shot was middle average thats why the lack of comments in what was a huge amount of entries, people just can't be bothered. Your shot was ok, just didn't have that " wow " factor.
We are all trying for it so keep shooting, it will come,
Paul.

I know how you feel about the lead balloon, but that's the chance you take when you enter a challenge.

Guess you find a nice quiet corner to hide in and come out when it's all over. I think there's room in mine, just don't snore!!

I feel the same way about one of my entries. I still like the image, but as a challenge photo it was ridiculous.

Now I know, however. I'm a better photographer because of it.

My General, didn't you see the ;D? I can guess a few ways to "Game" the Matrix... oops, I mean the system! When I entered the pic I knew it was to stay for good or bad, so it will do! Just enjoy the ride!

Somebody might have taken it seriously ... part of my "job" is to make sure there are no misunderstandings like that.

I'm also not sure I want to get into a thread of people posting their "techniques" for opting-out ...

Dont worry, Nick. My score is low also, I just think people dont get mine even though it screams comunication to me
Embarressing, but, hey I have even entered the wrong image before, so get out there and just knock their socks off with your next image LOL!

You are in good company my friend. I accidently entered the wrong picture in a challenge and came in 2nd to last place. The sad thing was it wasn't a bad picture.:(

Thanks Paul, I know my pic for "Parts" is below average, but this time THE PIC'S GOOD, and people just doesn't see how it meets the challenge. Well, I'll ask for comments again when the voting is over an can disclose it.

time to have some sleep here!

The problem with this is that anyone who didn't like their score could just unsubmit their photo which wouldn't make it much of a challenge.

Hey guy thanks for all the help and suggestions, I like the shot and I thought a lot before taking it. Possibly its my warped sensre of humouy or my concept of "communication" thats faulty. Anyhow the little guy reckons their voting for the Bird and it aint him > hard times for us all. Hope I havnt upset protocol with my postings .I'll just make a different approach for the next one after I find all those reports which say "can do better" !!!!LOL all tongue in cheek of course.

THanks for the offer, I'll bring the beer!!!.

well, i am in the same boat - i think i took the idea too far, and will once again come in toward the bottom.

although it's not really a bad photo at all, and i have had a number of remarks about it locally.

oh well - it's all in fun.
