A photo I recently took of my wingman in formation with my new 20D.
Very little done to this sharpening wise, but I have cloned in a little extra sky underneath, and in the original the very last curve of the exhaust was clipped off, so had to add that (unfortunately making it inadmissible for competitions). I cropped out the same amount exactly from the front, so this is in effect still a full frame.
This was my fist day out with the 20D. Taken with the 100-400m L IS USM lens, but at only 180mm. F5.0 1/1000th, ISO 400.
Ok, I just wish it was my wingman in formation .... actually taken from the ground, and I got lucky as the plane banked at exactly the right angle. However it was travelling several 100 kph at the time, which amazed me how crisp this came out.
I think this may be my favourite photo I have yet taken. Not full of action, but I was just amazed how clear it came out. Oh, I love my 20D!!!!!
Comments please.

Looks great! did a great job cropping and making it look level. It has the view from another jet. Great job. |

Wow. Was that pre-focused? Or does the 20D just have incredibly fast auto focus? |

Great Shot! I just wish my wingman could have flown as well! He was like a cork in the water, up and down then all around.
If you had not fessed up, that would be a great air to air shot, and they are hard to get that tight without a lot of camera shake. |

I thought this was taken on a fly past, but it could have been a takeoff run, although I don't remember them banking over the crowd. If it was a takeoff then thouse might well be wheel well hatches, I don;t know about it to know for sure.
