you get to see when the challenge is over who the photog was, and you never get to see who gave you what score

Perhaps it's a secret vendetta cos we use Fujifilm cameras??

Anyway, fingers are crossed that things change for the better.

I guess everybody just hates my image this time. Thats ok. I tried something different. I solorized it a bit...guess it didnt go with the theme of poverty. I will just chalk that up to learning!

My score is bouncing around a lot more than it usually does - it climbs up a bit and then - Boom, in just a couple of votes it goes down a BUNCH. Then it slowly climbs up a bit and the same thing happens all over again.

This is the first time this has happened with my challenge score, it usually either starts high and then keeps sinking the whole time or it starts low and then gradually climbs until the end.

Mine so far has been mostly under 5.0 but has varied wildly as well. People must really like or really hate.

mine is doing the exact same thing. slowly climbing up..slowlly climbing up...slowly climbing up.....CRASH....someone gave it a 1

This is the type of challenge that combines strong emotional subjects with mostly unappealing imagery. Wild swings in score are to be expected.

How do you look at the individual scores on your submission? Like how many 1's, 2's, 3's etc...??

you cant see until the challenge is over but if you watch close enough you can do the math

I just finished voting on all the challenge photos. I can't believe how many, to me, didn't even come close to meeting the challenge. So, this could be a reason for low scores on some nice, unrelated shots. just my thoughts, Van

I would have to agree here. I see such a wide variety, a wider variety than usual. But, it seems there are many photos that REALLY miss the mark on the theme, more than usual. Maybe the theme left people uncomfortable and because of that there is a larger stretch than usual with the theme. I gave out many more lower scores than usual for me. I usually try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but some of these photos just left me confused as to where they were trying to go with the subject.

Thats true, there are a lot that are more neglect than poverty, but the boat is being pushed out as well on others.

Ah ha! I did so bad in my first two challenges, I didn't even submit to this one! Figured I'd give my wife a couple day's to boost my ego!Good luck all, just remember i'm hanging with you in heart!

I also did rubbish on my first two challenges but refelcted on what was said about these pictures and came back with the entry i have now.

i am on 6.6 avg score at present so dunno where i will finish. fingers and every thing else is crossed.

Also i have not had a vote for ages not, 150 votes and nothing more all morning? everybody must vote late or something.

The challenge says show your interpretation of the word poverty. I think a lot of voters are going to vote down if there's not a homeless person who has threadbare clothes on. Poverty can mean poverty of wealth, spiritual poverty, emotional poverty, pretty much a dire lack of anything. Not just a dire lack of money.

The only thing that matters is the voting breakdown in the end of the challenge. You have to realize that NOT EVERYONE is going to like your work. When you submit that photo for printing or download or whatever, not everyone is going to want to purchase it. Maybe those people who voted on here a 7, 8, 9, or a 10 will download it though.

Not to mention, sometimes people just throw a vote out their first time through and then go back and re-evaluate all the photos at the end of the challenge.

It's like working in sales (with quotas) -- you never want to look at things day to day because you'll get discouraged and burn yourself out. You only want to look back on a week or weeks at a time...so an hour into a challenge, is nothing.
