Black and white minimal
It seems this side challenge is turning into a technical exercise. For this set I was experimenting with lighting using ambient light, a small flashlight (not used for any of these 3) and ring flash. Fortunately my plastic model is very patient.

I'm not sure how I feel about these, but I'm saving some of today's photos as possible challenge entries.
 
Edit: Just a quick reminder for those who have forgotten - for this side challenge all my photos are shot in black and white. I'll make future comments clearer.

  The Same basic shot with different backrounds.Focus stack with Helicon Focus.Lighting is 2 Quantum Qflashes set at 1/8 manual power. The red backround didn't come out as smooth as I wanted.Next time I'll use colored flash.

You could also try using a custom White Balance setting; if you set it using a "swatch" of 100% Cyan (I've even shot a Photoshop window on my monitor) it is pretty much the equivalent of using a red filter or gel. |
