From Tilt-Shift IV:

Tilt-shift photography refers to tilting the lens so it is not parallel to the image plane, classically to increase DOF and, more currently, specifically to selectively REDUCE the zone of focus, often to simulate a miniature scene. Use this technique while shooting and/or processing your entry for this challenge.

I like the idea of running this again, but no way on making it Archival. The number of images anyone would have in archives that meet this specific / unique requirement are going to be few at best.

I don̢۪t follow, don̢۪t archival challenges allow you to use any photo up until the day of submission?

Correct, but I doubt many here at DPC go around shooting many tilt-shift images in general. What that means is; who is going to actually have any images sitting around that they took using a tilt-shift lens or tilt-shift method?

â€Â¢ The lucky entrant who doesn't have to go out?
â€Â¢ Anyone who's done any architectural or real estate photography?
â€Â¢ Anyone with reasonable outtakes from previous T-S challenges?

Normally the objection to archival challenges is because of the advantage held by those with a huge trove of photos, not because use of an archival image is an unlikely option.

So ... run a challenge with a limited audience? Professional photographers with real estate or architectural archived photos - or - a rehash (outtakes) of a handful of participants.

May as well run Pinhole as an archival challenge next month - there will be a few that have some images on hand to use.

As mentioned, no one is required to use an archival image -- I rarely do myself. It's just a technique challenge made more accessible to those under house arrest ...

Not that I'm all that anxious for this particular topic right now ... :-(
