By the way did you know:
The date today on Tuesday 22 February 2022 is both a Palindrome and a Ambigram.
The date reads the same from left to right and from right to left and upside down.

220222022 22022022

this is true for non-Americans.

I was really impressed a couple years ago by the date 02/02/2020 which was a palindrome for the whole world. This is an extremely rare event

but sadly it was a big news year and it kind of got lost.

I'll never understand the mmddyyyy convention used by the US.
It's the only country in the world that uses it.

Going from smallest to largest, or largest to smallest units of time makes infinitely more sense. I just answered my own question.

as a supremely logical man I prefer yyyymmdd, which by the way also worked two years ago: 2020 02 02

In defense of "the American Way", if you ask me verbally what the date is I will tell you "February 22, 2022" which reads 02/22/2022, which to me makes perfect sense :-)

Same.
When I write log files or anything with a date, it's always yyyymmdd so you can order them chronologically.

I order computer files that way for the same reason. However when I use the date for other things, I can't change old habits and still write ddmmyy.

Don't let me start on the weird imperial system of measures that US still uses today! :)

I'm still trying to work this one out. Seems as if there's an extra 2 in the middle.

I'm of the generation when a sincere effort was made to enter the modern world of the metric system. We failed. One of my early disillusionments.

You are right. I have edited it to 22022022 in the original post :-)

Also, for the record, 22022022 reads the same if ROTATED 180 degrees, NOT "upside-down" which would read 55055055...
