Is it just the top two teams of each that make it in to the playoffs, or does it go deeper since we don't have as many teams this year?

thanks!

I don't know if this answers your question, but here's the section in the FAQ about it:
https://www.dpchallenge.com/league/league_dpl_information.php?dpl_faq#q6g

Edit:
Maybe I should have read it myself first! "However, the rest of the details of the playoffs have yet to be finalised." that leaves a lot of questions.

There are two rounds of playoffs. The top two from North face off in Rd1, as do the top two from South. In Rd2 the North and South winners face off for the overall title, and the runners-up battle it out for third place.

If the record is a tie - does it then go to percentages?

Yes. You can already see that in the standings now ... if the same record the team with the higher percentage is placed above the lower.

Sorry if I'm not understanding something but why has the first challenge of runoffs been announced before the regular season is finalized?

I think because the topic and schedule are not dependent on which teams are in the playoff bracket.

It might matter to the teams involved!

Shouldn't there be some time for recognition and to note which teams are still playing?
And time for congratulations to all the teams who worked so hard but did not finish in top two in each league?
There have been no announcements or anything!

It turns out the "two rounds of playoffs" were an artifact of the previous seasons where there were four divisions :-( The playoff schedule has been modified to reflect this, and there is a SINGLE PLAYOFF ROUND happening now. The winning teams from the 2 divisions are battling it out for the overall title now.

We realize that we don't actually KNOW who the two divisional winners are now, but that will be revealed at rollover tonight when the "Negative Space" results post, and the new challenge rolling in tonight will be the final DPL5 challenge. There are currently 4 teams in the running with 4-0 and 3-1 records... Should there be ties at the 4-1 level, the ties will be broken by best winning percentage over the season.

It has been a fun season, with a few administrative hiccups due to reformatting to reflect the lower number of teams entered. Check this spot tomorrow morning to see how it all shook out :-)

What Bear said, but yes - we should definitely be congratulating ALL participants and teams for their excellent team spirit and wonderful entries.

Based on the earlier discussion of this issue we were led to believe that top two winning teams from each division will be participating in the playoffs. And so we may have taken our feet off the gas pedal in the last round a little bit figuring that we would be in top two regardless. But now we are told that only two winning teams (one from each division) will be in the playoffs. Hmmm...

I hear ya, but there's no way around it, apparently: the coding doesn't take into account runners-up. I, myself, am in that same boat, I figured "We're in the playoffs no matter what!" and relaxed a bit. Turns out that wasn't true :-( And IF you guys beat us this round (very likely, IMO) you'll win the tiebreaker and battle for the title based on %...
