I thought there was a thread with before and after pictures but I couldnt find it in a search. I had a few comments about my processing on the shot so I thought I would post the original. I didnt edit this shot as much as some people thought I did. It was my first time using a Cokin filter system and I think I went a little heavy handed because the exposure is a little dark. Using curves and levels to brighten it is what introduced a lot of the noise into the blue. I tried to remove the noise but it just looked extremely fake. It was a RAW image so I also played with the color temp a little to try and reduce a little of the pinky red that looked a little oversaturated (naturally) to me. I dodged the rocks a little just to get some texture there. I also had to remove a LOT of sensor dust as it was shot at f/16 or f/22 for 10 seconds and I have way too much dust :(
Above were taken on the same day of the same sunset (at different times) and the second shot has not had any color or saturation editing at all.
If anyone else has a before and after shot for calendar feel free to add to the thread.

Thanks for sharing those!
The Fire Water one is just as stunning as your entry.
Really beautiful!

It's a good thing multiple entries per person are not allowed or moodville might have swept all the ribbons...

Sun Down is my favorite. That would have gotten you the ribbon too! |

I can't very well follow moody's shot, but here's my before and after. I was fairly pleased with the results. I had a lot of fun taking the picture anyway...and all the others I took of the macaws that day. :o)

Man, you are SOOOO the Master! That's amazing. Can I just send you all of my JPEGS and have you play with them? ;) I bet you'd crank out a blue ribbon with just about ANY picture, tho. Thanks for the pre/post. It's nice to see what people are starting with. Moodville, I think all of those sunset pics are great, with and without editing! |

WOW, Konador, great work. I don't know how you guys do that. Any time I try and mess with something too much it looks 10 times worse than the original. Bring on the tutorial!!! |

Oh man that pic caught my eye for sure!
This is my very first post here so I'm a newbie here. I'm into making flash and working on my own hompage at the moment. Anyway I was wondering if you'd be ok for me to put your pic in my Gallery section on my hompage? Of course I will remove it straight away if you have any objections. If not then of course you get full credits for it. So please let me know if you're kool with idea. I gave a 10 btw. Great pic and looking at it makes me forget how annoying my motherinlaw is at times.

Shouldn't it be your own photos in the gallery, not other peoples?
