I have been noticing that many pictures that are winning ribbons are not close to being the highest rated photos on this web site. I have seen that many of the top pictures are from a few years ago, when this web site had fewer members, and thus had fewer submissions and fewer voters. I think that there should be some way to view the top rated photos of the last month/year/etc.. I'm not sure if this idea is possible, but it would make viewing the galleries even more interesting. This is also in no offense to the photos which are the highest rated right now. I just think that the overall quality of the photographs on this site has risen, and we should be able to see what the best photographs of the last month/year/etc. have been. |

I agree. I feel rolling stats are a far better indicator of advancement or current condition than a fixed or cumulative stat anyway.

I agree! I believe in the profile area it should show the following:
1. Overall Average Vote Received ΓΆ€“ includes all challenges entered
2. This Years Average Vote Received ΓΆ€“ Only includes current years challenges entered.
3. Last Three Months Average Vote Received ΓΆ€“ Only includes the last three months challenges entered. Jan-March / April-June / July-September / October-December.
Ooops, I think I'm of topic here, sorry.

Yeah. You should take all challenges, normalize the voting patterns in them by fitting them to a gaussian curve(?) having same data set average and variance. Perhaps discarding 2% of outliers would solve some problems too.
This way you should get something closer to comparable vote score and would be able to say which pickture is the most popular ever ;D.

You wouldn't get the most popularpicture ever if you discarded 'some outliers', now, would you? You'd find the 'best average' photograph whilst looking for the best.
