I think ‘affordable rangefinder’ is a bit of an oxymoron. You’ll probably be able to get a film rangefinder for that money (Canon 7) and a prime lens for $500, but all of the digital ones (mainly Leica) are a lot more than that.

There are plenty of digital cameras that look like rangefinders but aren’t - like the Fuji x-pro 1 that would be about that price.

Probably not telling you anything you don’t already know.

Thanks Paul. I guess I was just looking for some inspiration in a more travel friendly always in the pocket format. I guess for a real rangefinder you got to upgrade a bit price wise.

You gave me some places to start because I guess I was just looking for the possibility of an older system in a rangefinder style giving a little bit of inspiration for travel.

Would anything in the Fujifilm x100 series suit your purpose? I know I've had fantastic success with them whilst travelling.
