Just would like to know..My score when I last looked an hour ago was 7.1250 after 8 votes. It started off with a 7 after 1 vote and has been above 7 since then up to vote 8 and now the 9th vote caused a massive drop. I just looked again and now it's 6.8889 after 9 votes. That is one hell of a drop caused by just 1 vote. Does someone know how to calculate how much that 1 vote was to have caused such a massive drop? I would love to know.

sorry to hear Fred ..

after 8 votes any vote has a huge impact .. so you don't need to have received a very low vote to drop significantly especially if you're over 7 ..

then of course in the last 12 hours or so of voting there can be a significant drop .. a drop of .4 for me is not unusual ..

in fact sometimes when I check my score and see that I've dropped a lot that's when I realize it's near rollover ..

of course with so few ppl entering challenges and voting any vote at any time has an impact on your end result ..

they're just my observations ..

also .. i can calculate what vote I've received when I know the previous votes ..
ie .. multiply the number of votes by average of votes received .. then when you get another vote do the same calculation .. then subtract the last result from the first result.. and that will be the vote you received ..
if you have received more than one vote since last looking you can calculate the average of those votes ..

there may be an easier way to calculate what vote you have received .. but that's how I do it ..:)

calculation is as Roz explained with the multiplication.

I have been tracking votes on a few of my entries. Indeed with such a few votes each vote can have a big impact, especially if they often range from 3 to 10 or so.
Also on the last day you will see a large number (6 perhaps) coming in in a short period, which again can have a significant impact on the average.

I have not seen any unusual patterns or adjustment at the last moment (referring to one of your previous concerns on strategic voting)

What roz said. I confess I do that. And I don't know why because it really doesn't make any whatever in the end.

roz can correct my math but according to my calculations your "massive drop" was caused by a 5

That's absolutely normal. It was a 5.

ETA: Don's right, as usual. And it's your only vote lower than 6.

Ok thanks Robert..that clears it up for me...just goes to show though how different peoples perspectives are. What the one sees as being worth a 7 or 8 another sees as being worth a 4 or a 5. And sometimes everyone sees a photo from a similar perspective. That's when a photo strikes the same or similar chord with different people. Thanks for everyone else's inputs as well. Much appreciated.

On another note, there are some amazing images in this free study. It was a pleasure to vote.

There are indeed and I found it not only a pleasure to vote but also a pleasure to make comments. Unfortunately received only 1 comment myself.
