I can't believe I don't know this after all this time, but I have never submitted a photo that includes people or animals - hence red-eye. I was thinking about it with the Pets challenge (which I am not entering, but thought I should find this out anyway). Can you use any software editing on red-eye under the Basic rules?

Thanks for taking the time to answer a really dumb queston!

If your red-eye removal technique involves spot-editing, than you can't do it in basic rules. Best to avoid red-eye in the first place by not using flash, or using a flash that doesn't cause the evil red dots.

my flash has a red eye reduction mode ,so i dont have much to worry about :) but if worse comes to worse could just use photoshop to fix it

if the photo that contains red eye isnt too much of a close up you can simply select the red area in photoshop then desaturate it

Not allowed in basic editing.
