I have some weird problems with my A70 problems
I contacted my dealer and he cofirmed it is the CCD. I took around 8000 pics
I do not have the money to upgrade, nore even to fix it.
My camera will be away for at least 15 days to be checked.
So no way to take pictures.
Do not know after this 15 days I will be able to use it...
I am far from being a photographer but I think I got used to carry it around and shot, to think of the challenges, so on...
I am sad and I wanted to share this...
PS This is the only issue with my 'Canon'. Otherwise I was very happy with this little fellow

Sorry to hear that Tiberius.

You shouldn´t underestimate your self. You´re surely much better photographer than many of us here and have shown that photography is so much more than equipments.

I dont know how long compact digital cameras are ment to last but it wouldn´t surprize me if the limit where close to 8-10000 shots.

Hope they solve your problems or you´ll find some way to buy a new one.

I would expect way more shots from a compact camera then 8-10K. The fact that it is the CCD that is going bad says that it is not a shutter problem To me it sounds like a bad connection to the CCD chip itself.

It really sounds like you have the misfortune to get a bad unit, as I think this line of cameras is well-thought of -- I've recommended them myself for their extensive manual feature set. In another thread it was suggested that 50,000 shutter operations was a more likely life expectancy for a camera in this range.

The only thing that I can say is ANY time you buy electronic equipment that costs more than $300 you should ask for an extended warranty. It's saved my bacon with the A70 three times!

I do agree! But I did buy it in China and all I could get it was 1 year :(

Upgrade to the A75 for $189
//butterflyphoto.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=A75

Or upgrade to the 4MP A85 for $217
//butterflyphoto.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=A85

Any extras you have for the A70 should work with either of these (verify before you buy though).

Butterfly ships pretty fast and I've had a great experience buying from them twice now. Their prices on cameras are the best I've seen for US warranty cameras.

Thanks a lot... but I am located in China.
Here cameras are more expensive and buying from USA + the shippment (if possible) won't do a great deal.
