This is the cutest, funniest thread I have read in a long time. I gotta try this technique too!

I did this one last year - my first attempt at such sillyness. I did one each for both my daughters and we all had heaps of fun in the process.
Not quite the same as the vegies, I know, but playing around with some of the same tools anyway.

It would be interesting to do around Hallowe'en ...

Hey Smelly,

I was looking at your Pbase shots. Nice work! On your dart picture, I was just curious how you got such good focus. Did you have a model to set the focus 1st? Did you shoot a high F-stop? Did you shoot fully wide to get more in focus in case you weren't in the precise spot?

Thanks,
Chris

This is pretty cool. I remember seeing this shot awhile back. I'll probably try this one sometime!

I used to pre-focus and try to get in the right spot. It was hit or miss, usually getting about 50% right. I bought a remote release cable and now I can use it to focus and realease the shutter. It is much better for focus, and I don't have to wait for the self timer to go off.
My three kids are much more interested in taking photos if they can use the remote release!!

I did use a small aperature for the shot as well. I think it was about f22, and that also helps.

Thanks,
JD

Thanx JD, the difficult part was getting the heads all lines up in the right direction.

I loke the results, but need to find how to get the contours a bit more pronounced.

Great shot at it! I like your idea of the reduced opacity layer for texture. I actually cloned potato texture onto my face where ever I needed it. Your method sounds easier!
Thanks for posting!

"Internet Dangers"
I have three small children, and I activated our parental controls this weekend. Up until now, they just played educational computer games, or went to the Disney/Nickelodian/PBS/etc websites. My six year old is starting to use Google to look things up, and who knows where he will wind up on the internet. I made this image for him to remind him not to give out his name, address, or phone number on the internet!

You can clone off the orange itself onto a new layer and do a radial gradient overlay on it, then fade the overlay so it looks right, that will give some dimension to the orange.
