Maybe we can make it an every weekend thing! :)Originally posted by Kavey: I like the idea of making it a weekend thing and setting a number of meeting places/ times and people can attend the bits they want to attend.
Great idea!
:o)
Am at client site so shouldn't be online but will edit first post at some point when I get a chance to reflect this cunning plan! |

It appears doubtful for me for the GTG on June 5th.
1st April, I gotta go for pre-assessment.
6th April, camera into kidney and biopsy.
21st April, in for op...depending on diagnostics/results of biopsy...either partial or full removal of kidney. No cancer cells showing, but some abnormal which could be precancerous. Will be in for 2-7 days...then 6 weeks off work with no lifting.
I'm hoping that I will be okay enough for 5th June, have to get plenty of exercise, so that will be no problem...just whether I can carry camera bag around all day.
Will keep you posted.

Steve, there will be other get togethers in the not very distant future. Good luck with the biopsy and possible op. Sounds like they've caught whatever it is early so I hope that means lower risk of a problem.

Steve
Fingers crossed for no complications, nice straightforward op, speedy recovery!
And if you'd like to come and meet everyone you can always come along without your camera (they aren't mandatory as a big part of the GTGs is social) and stay for as long or short a time as you feel up to!

Thanks Kavey, and everyone for their support.
So, here's the deal...if all goes well, I will be there and I need a slave to get and stir my coffee! Oh, yes, and blow on it so it isn't too hot. I will also need another slave to cut up my food and feed it to me. And lastly, I will require a sherpa to carry my bag, tripod and also act as a leaning post/monopod!
I will keep you all up to date as events unroll.
See you all soon at the GTG, Steve |

I'm up for getting there Sat afternoon, a few pics then a good old London knees up (I don't sing but make up for that by drinking lots) then an early night to be fresh for a dawn shoot followed by breakfast (possibly alchoholic) a walkabout followed by some drinks at lunchtime (the light is bad at noon) followed by some more shooting before a late afternoon drink :)
Can anybody promise to put me on the right train home?

They can only put you on the right train home if they haven't been following your example ;)

Well, I'm sure we can arrange a pre-GTG meetup that weekend, should you two want to meet some of the London DPCers :o)

Might be good to start fleshing out some plans for what to do over the weekend...
I have had requests for London Eye and for Greenwich. I know we've done these at the first and second London GTG respectively but there's plenty of material for photography at both locations so don't mind doing them again.
Any other suggestions for locations within London?
Figure if we can agree on some locations we can then slot those into the weekend at different times and then find some eateries in those locations at which to meet/ eat.

Another option would be to follow the river south-west, to battersea park & clapham common etc, or even out towards kew gardens & richmond...

May I join in? Assuming yes:
I would second Ed's recommendation of the British Museum and surrounding area: everything from the activity of Oxford Street to cafes to the museum itself (in which there is an huge array of bery photogenic pieces).
I would add that the City can be very interesting at the weekends - it is so quiet that it is possible to stand in the middle of the road and set up a shot in most areas. Although that also means that there are fewer pubs open... But it is only a short walk down to Tower Bridge and the South Bank. Same goes for the Docklands, which is relatively close to Greenwich. |

All of these sound great!
Assuming we have 4 main blocks of time (Sat AM, Sat PM, Sun AM and Sun PM) which 3 or 4 areas or activities do we want to narrow down to and is there any preference as to which time slot they sit in?
