Hey all
I have a job comming up, its a graduation dinner for a small private school, approxomatly 35 kids. They want to use a background with a tropical feel to go with this years theme.

I really dont want to buy a custom painted background ad I will most likely never use it again. Does anybody have much experienc with the chromaKey back drops and digital backgrounds? I understand there is software thta will merge my partrait and the backdrop for me. Advantage I believ it is called?

Do I need to worry about the blue or green spilling over into the hair? This will be a proof-on-site job and I wont have a lot of time to play with the basic image.

Also will the above software work as a batched action in photoshop cs?

Any help is much appreciated. I have till June to get ready for this one, but I am doing a small charity event at the end of this month that I would like to use as a dress rehearsal, so I need to get moving.

Thanx again,
Sam

Ps Iam new to this site, is there a spell check for the forums? thanx

Someone here wil have a link, but there is a company that makes an dsells a chromakey backdrop, fabric i think, in blue or green. Their website has info on reducing the spill over effects.

Here is a replacement i did in PS. The backdrop is just a shot out my window from last winter. It might do better with a bit of gaussian blur, but seems to be about what the mass merchant studios do, end result wise.

The before looked like this

with the white backdrop and black couch.

I have been messing around with it a little lately,
3 threads (2 I have been into) One Two Three.
Depending on how you light it, will depend on spill over. The first two thread talk of this with links on how to reduce and also links to websites (one is Chroma-key.com, I think...where I bought my backdrop.).

Edit: I bought the Chroma-Key becasuse the actual thread used to make it is the blue (or green) and not dyed and will not fade when washed, etc

I bought a Chromakey back ground for digital backgrounds and I have not yet been able to clear all the color wash that appears in the light color hair of the subject. I have seen it done but it can take a lot of photoshop work. I spent about $200 on teh chroma key background and a set of digital backgrounds..

Can you build the cost of a custom background into your pricing?
