I that's what a lot of people do... the only problem is the word domesticated !.... Its a bit hard to claim a grizzly bear is a domesticated animal :P.

I'm posting here to mark a special occasion: I just submitted the first photo to this challenge. Given that most of my other submissions have been taken within 3 hours of the challenge closing, I think it's a milestone worth noting. The only problem is that because of that I'm used to instant feedback. It might be a long week.

Oh... and finally... I can't believe I submitted something to a PET challenge!

:).

Yep, this challenge 'sucks'. We've only had a pet challenge fairly recently... no pets and I don't know anyone with pets.

Yeah I was a bit surprised (and fairly disappointed) when I saw the challenge topic actually - pets and their people, best friends, and 'pets' all in the space of a month or two. A bit too much sappiness for my liking :).

You beat me Anders I just submitted also but not real impressed with the topic or my image.
I have plenty of subjects but always find then difficult to capture but today i seem to have one that I'm reasonably happy with.
Anyway it's early days so far and I will probably change my submission before the start a few times.

I entered a STUPID self portrait picture to the "best friends" challenge
It was dumb, not even funny and technically atrocious...

thats not neaarly as bad or stupid as the one I will enter in the "pet portraits challenge, and this time as a protest.

This must be a joke. How about the people that have exotic pets. Should we name them all. Also have a friend that does have a pet squirrel. He lets it out of the house in the morning so he can go visit his friends. He has even started bringing his buddies to the house. It's like he has told them it is safe. He also loves chocolate.

Faidoi...the crazy cat lady next door to me has umpteen cats. You could (please) come borrow one (dozen) of them for the shoot. I'll never tell! ;o)

they don't have to cheesy photos to be a pet portrait... though i can see quite a few lacking entries ahead.

If you don't own a pet, borrow one.
If you can't borrow one, go to a park.

On a site that can overcome the lack of lightbulb shaped moons orbiting the planet it shouldn't be such a huge obstacle to get over : )

And think - I'm stuck with the world's most disobediant, impossible to photograph dog. You can all go find a well behaved one!

Zoinks! My cat was diagnosed years ago by the vet as neurotic. Very believable if you were to see it. It's 15 years old, about 3 pounds, and is constantly working on chewing its fur off, and doing quite well at it.

A conversation I overheard between two visiting friends:

Friend 1: "What is that?"
Friend 2: "I don't know, but I think it's part rat."

We could get medication for her neurosis, but it would eventually kill her. :-(

Ouch. Guess I won't be retouching a Beagle to look like Godzilla. Hmm... next idea. ;-)
