With less than 8 hours to go in the "Pets" challenge, here's the current situation:

Member Challenge: Pet Portrait
Rules: Advanced Editing (Updated 1/3/05)
Submission: Mar. 28th - Apr. 3rd
Submissions: 172

This seems surprisingly low to me. I'd have expected an inundation of entries for this challenge, and usually by this time there's a couple hudnred entries in I think...

Are y'all out there working your heinies off perfecting that one, very special, image? Or is it that you've somehow intuited that mine is so spectacular that there's no point even competing?

jejejeâ„¢

Paint a face on a rock? There was a "pet rock" craze once... :-)

Dangit! You gave my reason away away!

My theory is that everyone is abstaining in protest as they see this being a snapshot challenge. In a few hours it will strike them that they're not going to have an update button in the morning so they will quickly grab a snapshot of little fluffy just to have an entry ... thereby turning this into the snapshot challenge they didn't want to be a part of.

; )

Anyway, when I was young we considered 100 a lot of entries in the members challenges so think yourself lucky!

Edit: grammar

Exactly why I haven't entered. Too fearful of mine looking like a snapshot and getting hammered

Only 82 entries for Accidental letters with 2 days to go. Maybe there have been too many challenges, or people are all on spring break.

Well, what a coincidence. I bought a large male lion a couple of weeks ago and now they have this pet challenge... Hmmm, imagine that! ;)

Hahaha, it's not going to be a rival for my adolescent killer whale! I keep it in a fish tank in my backyard!

pffft. My pet rock also happens to be one of the highest mountains in the UK.

Would :"pet duck with skin disease that makes it look like plastic" work?

The UK has mountains? Is that like anything over 100 meter tall?

Well, I went out & bought a puppy for this one. Depending on my score, I'll either keep it as a memoir of my win or I'll tie it to a lampost with a Post-It note.

Anyone else done similar? I love those gifs - whatever the cost.

I went and bought a pet penguin which I'm planning on throwing off the pier after the challenge.

I don't think a post-it will be strong enough to hold it.

Just so you all know, this is going to be a real Cinderella story when I scoop up the Blue Ribbon! I can picture the DPC headlines now, "Newbie Snapshotist Puts Pro's to Shame!"

There was a small, full-bladder-related accident during the portrait shoot. I hope everyone appreciates the hardship I went through for this.

You guys are so mean! I'll be taking the pets in case you wannt get rid of them :-)
Not the pet rocks though.......

Also, I didn't know that UK had mountains.....maybe if you look at a cliff from the sea line. It's all a matter of point of view, isn't it? LoL

I think the Scottish Highlands are pretty high. I think many of you are confusing the UK with England.

The Lake District has some decent sized hills too, but yes the big stuff (to us anyway!) is in Scotland.
