I was wondering if lots of people update the firmware one their cameras?

Is there a good place to get Firmware? Is it supported by warranty?

Can anything go wrong?

Any help or experiences on this subject would be a big help.

Thanks

I loaded the 'Wasia' hacked firmware on my 300D a long time ago and had no trouble. Prior to that I'd upgraded the firmware with an update from the Canon site.

I just made sure that my battery was fully charged before I started.

I know nothing about 20D upgrades, however.

The upgrade for the 20D can be found here

EOS 20D firmware ver 1.1.0

Double check that is the correct one. Check your camera settings for you current version on the camera. Use a power adapter or a fully charged battery.
If I remeber correctly you download the file then transfer it to a memory card then upgrade from the camera's menu.

I have downloaded firmware updates from Canon several times. Nothing to worry about, it will not void your warranty. It is not at all difficult, but make sure you follow the directions on the Canon site carefully. If you are put off by the thought of doing it yourself you can probably get your local Canon dealer to do it for you for free, or a modest charge. Excluding the time to download, it only takes a minute or two.

... However, it is my understanding that the firmware upgrades not provided by canon, such as the Russian wassia upgrade will void your warrenty.

Good luck...!
