Mine's doing the same thing. It must be one of those love/hate things. Up and down like a yo-yo.

Very low score here, but hay ho, but it was a bit of a last minute submission, see where I end up.
got more votes to view ratio on this one than others though.

What is going on? My score has dropped below 6 as well, from 6.3244 this morning to what it is now. Somebody please stop the bleeding!

lol - I just got a 10 vote and it took it to exactly 6.0 and then followed by a 3. Back down to 5.98 :(
and now.....5.97

I think the lower voting can be attributed to the other thread/s where the minimalism voting is being discussed pretty heavily...
Gotta go. I'm off to the ATUB meeting.... addicted to update button!

There are way, way, way too many entries where the open or negative space does nothing for or with the subject, in terms of support or interaction. It seems like many images aren't much more than odd or offset crops of the main subject. The distance thing seems to in vogue as well. Many very good photo's but nothing too interesting here in simply having met the challenge.

Just my opinion....

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not complaining; just wondering what the heck is going on. My score which was over 6.2 this morning, is suddenly receiving a lot of scores of '2' and '3'. How is it that an image, could be scored so well one day, be scored so poorly the next day. One person said to me they think that people are going back and changing their scores on images they have already voted on. I sure hope that person is wrong. All I know is my entry has taken a severe clobberin' today.

I've gotten quite a few 1s and 2s in the last few hours. they were preceeded by 7s and 8s so I don't get it either. Wish my score was as high as yours though! I changed votes on many of the images but all of mine were up. A couple bumped up 3 points on a more in-depth view.

It is a little strange. Mine has about remain the same thru out, but all the comments are very positive. I wish the low scores had left comments so I can see what I did wrong. I suspect Artistic Value as my main problem.

Edit: removed name of entry into current challenge (still being voted on).

I think I can explain that.

When I start my voting I stick to a 4-6 scale. I vote for EVERYTHING. Then when I've voted for all of them, they're separated out and then I start going through each of the 6s and teasing out the best. I can make a better determination of what is best (to me) after I've seen them all. (That usually takes about two days of popping on the site for 10 minutes and going through a few dozen.)

After I've chosen my best (and commented on the top ones), I go to all my 4s and make sure that I've given them their due - and some, upon further inspection will merit a downgrade (in my opinion).

I do this going back and forth between my home monitor and work one so everyone (especially the low scoring ones) get the benefit of the doubt.

I used to vote on the top and bottom ones. Now I've started commenting on the top ones and then picking about 20 random ones in the middle because I feel that middles get the least comments and could probably benefit from it more. I'm one of those people stuck in the middle and need a little help to get my photos out of the five range and up to contender status. I appreciate all those that take the time to comment on my photos and I hope that I've been at least helpful to those I comment on (but if it's not helpful to them, I've learned something about viewing photos).

I'm guessing I'm not alone in my style of voting. You'll notice as the week goes on your vote may vary even though you've gotten no "new" votes.

My lowest vote is 5. If you get a bump from me the least placement is 6. It all depends on the placeholders: 5,6,7. So you get bumped from any of these numbers.

Hmmmm yoyo is the theme of this challenge at least in stats..
I am happy with my submission, thrilled with all the comments, and glad to see the votes/views ratio closer than I have ever had : )

life is good

I'm very happy with the amount of comments, although most of them are saying the same thing, that the photo is dark. Except on my callibrated monitor, it's totally fine. And what I've also noticed, is that only non members have said anything about the brightness, and that all of the members that commented on my photo said nothing about it's brightness. Hmmm.

I guess I'm confused on some of the comments too. One even said out of focus ... glasses or a good monitor would help there. Others try to pic out the smallest most insignificant thing they see and try to make it the minimalized part. So many macro shots, black screen, washed out white backgrounds, or simply off-centering or off-setting a main subject to the side of the photos, these do not necessarily meet the objective, BUT then again they may. Minimalized does not mean that there cannot be anything else in the picture, it means that the main theme or subject (of the Artist) takes up a small portion of the photo. Many minimal photos of landscapes are great if the main part that the photographer was emphasizing on is a small number of pixels BUT the main subject should also be quality, focused, clear and worth looking at. Look again at what the photographer was attempting, if it was strickly a macro well...

Interesting - I just calibrated my monitor and find myself giving alot of feedback regarding dark photos.... I am even able to realize that some of my own photos in the past have been problematic in this way ....
but, I am relieved to know that others are giving and receiving these comments....

I too go back and change scores, but I don't think I have ever lowered a score. You are right dahkata, going back and studying the images a second time always yields higher scores for several, at least from my standpoint. Kinda like the cream rising to the top kinda-thing.

I know 5.7 is not high but if it stays like this I will be a happy teddy bear. I have read how people are voting and I think that I have tryed to meet this in the challenge. I also will be voting later with this in mind. Good luck everyone.

my second challenge, and i'm pretty happy with my score. although my image doesn't necessarily fit the definition of minimalism, i think it does fit the description well, which in my opinion is the most important part of a challenge. the title just gives you a direction to move in. the few i saw that do fit both are very impressive though.

thanks for all the comments.

Personally, I feel bad about my submission. I took a gamble and now it is killing my image... I added a black border to my image and I have ahout 6 people stating that the border was to distracting. :( I am so bummed... This was my best image ever.

Hey Vis...It must not be doing too badly, with a score of 6.4813, and two people who have added it as their Favorite. I noticed several images with black borders, and with white borders, and I try to ignore the borders. Personally I think they should not be allowed and that the image should stand on it's own merit, and not be added to or subtract from by a border. dpchallenge may want to consider that idea. Anyway, good luck with your entry. Looks like it is doing well.

I did not enter this challenge although I did a few shots and I have seen a few of the same ideas entered so I feel like I understood the rules. I am having a real hard time scoring because some of the ones that meet the challenge rules are very boring. This is my just my opinion. There are a few wonderful examples and I have scored accordingly, but this is a very difficult challenge for the entries and the voters.
The best I can do is comment that I love the pictures but my understanding of the rules did not meet the requirements of the challenge. Anyone else having a problem??
