Hey guys,

After reading a few threads on the subject of hotshoe flash mounts, i'd like the community's opinion on this little baby:

Sigma EF-500 DG ST E-TTL Shoe Mount Flash

Its supposed to be equivalent as a Canon 550. Any takes?

I've used it for a couple of weddings and am quite satisfied with it. While it's "nearly" equivalent to the Canon 550, there are a few differences. Do a search here and you'll see related discussions, including a link to an in-depth comparison (...I'm at work, otherwise would find that link for you :-).

Hey Lenk,

Thanks for the reply, unfortunatly the Search function seems to be down at the moment. I'll look into it some more. I have absolutly no experience with a hotshoe flash, so i'm not sure what i'm getting into, but from what i can tell, its a must have, so i'm shopping for that before a set of lighting equipement (alienbees)

You need the Super model NOT the ST.
I forget where i tripped across the info when i was looking, but I beleive the ST is not compatible with teh 20D. I know it lacks some features, one of which is e-ttl 2 which your 20D has. the price differential is not that great (check ebay) for the amount of time you'll have it.

Thanks for the pointer Prof, i'll be sure to check this out. I had my eyes on the ETTL too.
