I'd love some feedback on the new series I just posted to my portfolio.
//www.dpchallenge.com/portfolio.php/u/7466/collection_id/449

I'm hoping folks will tell me if they like the photos, why...why not...etc.

And, no, there will be no dianthus from me in the "flora" challenge. With the problems my camera is having with the exposure meter, I'm not sure I'll enter the challenge this time. I'm waiting for the replacement to come :) (gateway was so nice when I pointed out I'd had the camera less than a month).

Anyway, thanks in advance.

I'm bumping this up in the hopes that someone might take some time to offer some insight on these photos.

The background is way to busy. It takes my eyes off the flower. Try moving the other flowers and stems or even picking the flower and shooting it seperatly. If you are going to take a picture with the others flowers showing then in my oppinion make sure you have more of the others and make sure they are all in focus. I did like the macro shot. Very interesting and I like how I can see the pollen all over the flower. Gives it charactor.

I love dianthus, and many of your shots are very nice. Try using the rule of thirds once in a while, and you often have interesting light on them, but the shadows make everything happen in these photos, so I would boost the shadows more to give the light a "special" quality, as if it were hard to find. I like the point of view for many of these, which looks at the flowers from the side. The ones that are straight on aren't as exciting to me. The flowers that interest me most are the ones with the unusual petals: usually curled. They stand out as being unique in the photo-filled world of flower photography. Keep up the good work!
