I find myself very curious to see what kinds of shots would show up in a challenge even more restrictive than Basic Editing, where the only allowed alterations would be rotate (to help even the field for people without expensive tripods) and crop (to help even things out for people without a wide array of lenses).

No sharpening except what the camera can do, no level, contrast, or color balance adjustment, other than what the camera can do.

I wouldn't want to see every challenge like this, nor even the majority, but for once every month or two, I think it would be nice to have a counterpart to Advanced Editing.

Anyone else?

I'd like that, except I'd have to switch my camera over to JPEG mode rather than RAW.

But the problem is that you have to reduce to 640 and that will make the photo soft. And you can't sharpen it.

How about a side by side challenge. Enter the unedited image AND what you can do in PS. Scores are the combination of both (has to be good out of the camera and even better from PS.)

Although I can do all the editing as others do to their photos, I do not do any post processing so a challenge like this would be fine with me.

I like that idea. (I like the original as well, but we should expect soft shots!)

Well, I really want to remove Photoshop completely from the equation here. At most, I could see allowing sharpening, levels, and brightness/contrast, which you could say are absolutely minimal darkroom techniques, but I really want this to be about the photography, not the editing at all.

Read this thread. I tried suggesting something like that, IT BOMBED!
