This is my sons art work, ijust fooled around with the colours what do you think? The colour one is the original

The both address different perspectives, one is pure textural, the other uses colour in a more dominating fashion.
Both have their strengths. for me it is more important to understand what he is trying to achieve and what was the prime subject / theme.
Art is a very subjective thing, I personally do not like much of the output from the Dutch masters, but I can appreciate their work, as they have given an idea about where they ere heading.
Is this a school piece, or is this from just playing at homeâ€Â¦

this is a school piece. He is in yr 9. (14 yrs old). He wanted to use technology in his work. the full piece has serial ports in it. Here it is below. He was just doing some plaster work in art class and this is what he came up with. No real reason, just liked it

Your son has produced a good piece of work here the Technology theme has been captured well and he has utilised a strong colour theme to support the plaster tecture.
For me your sepia version looses the colour impact which makes the artwork strong. So I will go with the colour version every time...
