Okay mine SUCKS! But, my photo does suck. I just want to try every challenge I can so I can learn from it. It makes me pick up my camera and take pictures for things besides work. While doing that I learn how important it is to remember the little things like ISO settings (hehehe). That being all said, my score so far is 3.8 LOL!!!! But, I am doing fairly well in the Beauty challenge with a 5.3 so far. So, I am happy. I am learning and I get to see the work of some of the best photographers on the planet!!!

I'm guessing there's a thread around here where it was decided that we would go with Choices take on Decisions...looks like I'm going down on this one...

Scores are low, why can't people see the decision in my shot? In comparison to my peers I think it is very clear. AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH |

I think, Crystal, that you've got it exactly right. My entry in Beauty is doing about as I expected -- and like you, I wanted to submit something if only to force myself to make the effort. Pats on the back are wonderful -- but they're not what make us better.
As for Decisions? Well .. suffice it to say that I made one regarding my submission and went with it in spite of a pretty firm notion that it would be hammered. And so it is. After 4 votes, it's at 3.25 and I fully expect that might be higher by a bit than it finishes. Still, it's a photo that's dear to me for reasons I'd never expect voters to fathom with no more information than they get while voting. And it's also a shot few may care for even with all the information.
Learning what Plays well by experimenting with one's heart safely off one's sleeve is a grand experience all by itself . . . |

Hello everyone!
I'm a newbie posting a first in the forums and man, am I embarrassed! My first entry was in Granual and who'd have thought granuals on the face would be such a popular idea, especially since my outtakes were so different? What a bad move there, eh? Not only that, but my next submission is Decision and yet again I pick the most popular topic; suicide! Anyway, (now that I've told you my whole DPC life story) you guys are awesome on this site and I'd love to get ANY feedback and you have because, well, frankly I think you all are geniuses! Seriously, I am so inspired by all you great photographers (Zoomdak, why can't you be more that just a year older than me? I have such a long way to go!) So thanks fellow DPCers! PS I am a member...just wating on some technicalities being worked out.
Oh yes...
Zero for everything so far :o)

I have a theoery about votes following challenge results: SOME people have often stayed up all night, they're tired, grumpy, they didn't get the result they hoped for - THEN they start voting and we all suffer:))
I've gone from 5.0 to 4.444 lol! |

Ahh, my entry is doing terrible! After a long haitus, I came back with what I thought might be a good image, but it's only at 4.5385! People do not like it.
And NightShy, I loved your entry for Granual! It was one of my favorite in the challenge. As for the idea behind it, even though it was common, I never would have thought of it, and I think yours was an excellent photo! |

Mine has gone from a 5.8 to a 5.23. It's going the wrong way. Stop! :) Although it's way better than my horrific beauty entry, so I really can't complain. |

Horrific beauty, that's quite the oxymoron... I kind of like it. That's alot like what I would call my entry.
About 2 mins after submission deadline I noticed a huge editing mistake on my Decisions entry and I can't believe I missed it. Plus it's starting off with my lowest score since I started. It promises to be a long week... |

i think people are going to vote me down for thinking i did illegal editting because the flashlights i used made some weird effect on my picture. oh well...i hope people just vote for what they think and then just request disqualification if they are suspicious

Yay, I'm almost to a 4.0! I'm sure the number will only get lower, but I don't think it's too bad for a newbie. |

I have to admit guys....I have given out some really LOW score....these are perhaps some of the worst entries I have seen in MONTHS. Many people took a "normal" photograph and just made the decision all within the title. I think the challenge was asking for the photograph to represent decision, rather than to just take any picture and rely on a thr title to make it appropriate to the challenge. We'll see what tomorrow brings as far as scores...but I think it will be a VERY low scoring challenge in general. :(

ya i noticed that too, a lot of them are loosely connected to the challenge topic in my opinion

Well, I could see how some would place my entry in that category, I had a good photograph and saw it could be connected to the challenge - I didnt setup a 'decision' stage. That explains my see-saw trends - upwards, downwards, upwards.

yeah the challenge is on the shots and not on the titles...! I know that the title of the photo is important but I think that the photo must be comprehensible also without the title....good luke :-) |

I usually give the benefit of doubt to the photographer.
If its a WOW photo, for which I do not see the connection to the challenge, I'd rate it 7-8 instead of 9-10 (deduct a point or two).
A crappy photograph, whether or not it relates to the topic in my opinion, gets a 3 or 4.
If I should enforce my view of the challenge everytime I vote, how about this: This challenge was about decision, not choices. I should only vote high those photographs in which I clearly see a decision being made, and trash those which show ambiguity or non-decisiveness. I wonder how many would like that.
For this challenge, since less than 10% of the entries would actually show a decision being made, I wouldnt penalise those that show choices, or a decision already made / and/or using the title to convey the decision. Of course 9s and 10s would be reserved for good photographs in those 10%.

vfwlkr good way to get a DECISION!
I was in really trouble with this challenge, 'cause I was thinking about the difference between choices and decisions...at least I've done a shot not very creative but that's a decision...but I see that the most of guys didn't think of this difference! |
