I took this photo yesterday and did a bit of photoshop trickery to it today, but I'm having a bit of trouble with cropping it. The original has the center of the flower right in the center of the frame, which, rule of thirds aside, seems to make the bottom right corner a bit dark and empty.

What do you think? Would you crop it? Where would you crop it? My cropping attempts come out feeling awkward.

I've viewed your lotus large and I don't have a problem at all with the dark space at the bottom right of the image. Your lotus has so many facets to it, that it's nice to have some black areas at the bottom and top left to anchor the image in the frame. I like the cropping the way you have it here. The rule of thirds is merely a guideline and not something you need to adhere to 100 percent of the time. Rules are meant to be broken sometimes and photography is no exception. Your tones, colors and clarity in this shot are mesmerizing. I really enjoy the way the petals extend out of the frame too. Some people would say that you need space all the way around the lotus, but in this case I think you should leave your image just the way it appears here.

Nicely done!
