| Is this something that's happening elsewhere on the planet at whatever the equivalent of a sixflags is? Sometimes I feel planet and U.S. are one and the same. |

6 Flags is a chain of amusement parks with lots of seriously cutting-edge roller coaster-type rides. The original park was in Texas and called "6 Flags Over texas", a reference to the the 6 different historical ownership periods of the state. Eventually they started buying up other parks (they bought Magic Mountain in Valencia, north of L.A., back in the 80's I believe, as one example). There are a bunch of them throughout the USA now. They all have some sort of "theme" like a Disneyland does, but they are primarily about the thrill rides.
