I'm new here, so I would like it if someone could clarify the basic editing rules for me. I have seen a number of submissions in the obsolete challenge where the image was obviously desaturated around, for example, a red object. Is that legal? Is it possible to apply that effect to the whole image if part of the image is still bright red?

| If you check the Tutorials under the Learn menu, there is one on how to achieve this evvect within the Basic editing rules. |

In a nutshell, if you apply the hue/saturation tool in photoshop to the entire image, you may legally desaturate (or further saturate) any or all of the color channels within it. So you can remove yellow, for example, and pump up blue, whatever you like. Just do it to the entire image, not a selected part of the image.

I just read the tutorial - thank you! It was very informative. I had no idea you could do that within the basic editing rules. I have adjusted my votes accordingly.
Now I'm going to have to play with that technique and see what I can do with it!

Well you should always vote assuming the image is legal anyway. |
