Well this didn't start as a test, but the results were definitely intriguing... the photo in question is this:

Note the scores in the Voting Breakdown... 15 1's. I recall reading previous threads on voting that some people just give 1's to images that do not meet the challenge, but I clearly hope this is not the case for this image for obvious reason :) ... anyway...

Perhaps it might be the image quality? Well, it is in relatively good focus, decent lighting, and over sharpened... nothing that merits a 1, or a 10 for that matter. Personally, if I were to give a score range for my own image, I would say it should not have gotten anything under a 3 and nothing over an 8, and it landed exactly where I thought it would land (about a 5).

I'm not trying to make a point, but I'm just giving yet another piece of evidence on what might be going on with the voting (whether it supports any idea or not is hard to say).

I don't think there really is any "test" in this.

I gave this a 4 - I found it to be humorous and imaginative, but it was frankly easier to make a joke of the challenge (a good one), than to produce an image in the spirit of the challenge. I would imagine that those that scored it with 1's or 2's found the photo uninspiring and possibly condescending, while those that scored it 9's and 10's found it halarious. The majority gave it a 5 - which is frankly a no-opinion vote.

btw - I took a look at your portfolio - you really do some nice work.

The problem with a humorous shot is a good percentage of the people are always going to think it was dumb and vote it a one. A lot of people hat Jim Carey, Adam Sandler, the THree Stooges...

People give ones for all sorts of reasons. Trying to figure out why will drive you insane.

How could ANYONE hate the Three Stooges?

It looks to me like you have a near-perfect bell curve.
