For SLR, the 1dsMkII is the best body around, FullFrame 35mm and 16.7mp,
as for medium format... while the Hasselblad D1 is awsome, I've used and loved the Leaf Valeo system... both bodies are 22MP and in the 25K range.... |

...used to be the best body around. Now we have the D2X. What does 'full frame' mean anyway? There is no such thing. To a medium format shooter, 35mm is certainly not full frame, this has been so over-played. |

the D2x? while it's a great camera...it certainly does not equate the 1dsMkII !
D2x is 12 MP while the 1ds2 is 16.7
d2x is 1.3 crop factor while the 1ds2 is FullFrame 35mm... which means that a 200mm lens is 200mm(that's what FF means and the 1DsMkII is the only dSLR offering FF)
the D2x is outsold more than 8 to 1 right now in the studio business (taken from Fotokina market-watch).
I'm not shooting the D2x down, it's a great camera.

Actually Kodak offers 2 full frame cameras. The 14n for Nikon lenses and then they have one for Canon lenses too. It is a 14 mp camera. |

The D2x is 1.5x crop.
Full frame has not so much to do with the lens focal length. A 200mm will always be a 200mm, you just take a smaller crop from the bigger image circle. That's what crop factor means. A 200mm lens is a 200mm lens, a D2x crops /1.5 from the 1x circle and a 1Ds crops /1 from the 1x circle (1/1 = 100%). On a medium format camera the 200mm build for a 35mm will probably vignette as hell, but the lens will stil be 200mm.
It is therefore also wrong to say that your 200mm becomes a 300 or even 400 on the D2x. You are simply taking a high resolution portion of a full image circle.
Kodak also had 35mm bodies but the last thing I heard is that they will quit producing them.
In my opinion there is nothing wrong with 1.5x bodies as long as you solve the wideangle issues. Something Nikon did (with some high quality stuff) and Canon is trying to do (altough not with L quality lenses).
When you've got your wideangle covered and the resolution is good enough for what you print, than there is no reason to go to a bigger sensor camera UNLESS you prefer a bigger viewfinder. Imho the noise factor is way overrated.
