Hi, Just wondering if i can desaturate the excess subjects in a photo, and leave the main subject (or whatever) coloured, in Photoshop, and submit it for a user challenge... Please Respond...

It really depends. Any desaturation in an open challenge, with basic rules, must be done using the Hue/Saturation tool (or similar), and applied to the entire image. If your main subject has colorization that isn't found in the other areas of the photo, then yes, you'll be able to keep your main subject saturized, and the rest of the photo desaturized.

Hey, so, how do i use the hue/saturation tool to only desaturate the bakcground or other areas that i want b/w in an image??

Normally, you cant do that for open challenges.
However, if you have a red subject on a blue background, and your subject does not have any blue, you can desaturate blue completely from the whole picture. That is the only selective desat allowed in open challenges

That will explain things.. but basically you just have to desaturate the colors in the entire image that you *don't* want.. and leave the colors in that you *do* want.
Just remember that your main subject basically must contain a completely different set of colors than your background, in order for this to work 100%.
*EDIT* Also keep in mind that selective desaturation has quite a large negative reaction to quite a large number of voters.. so expect that to affect score.. unless it's something extremely different or "wow" inducing :)
