I took on July 4, 2005 on my way home from rural Alabama. I really like it but can't seem to get the impact with post processing that I want. I don't know if its a lack of detail in the photograph (taken in Large JPG) or my lack of editing skills. I seem to have Photoshop block :).
Anyone and everyone is welcome to try to process this photograph. If you would like the original file I will be glad to send it to you, just PM me. Thanks in advance for anyone that is willing to try to bring this photograph to life. I would like to put the best version in my portfolio with a credit to the person that did ALL the processing. If that's OK with the person doing the processing. If not I will not post in my profile.
The direction I was going emotionally in this photograph was with the lonely tree. No editing done on this except resize to upload.

That was what I was wanting to shoot for but I am not good at D&B. I seem to over do it. BTW great photo as an example.
EDIT: I'm going to try your suggestion too.

Here's a workover from the original.
Cntrl-alt-tilde, cntrl-j, set layer to screen and fade, for greater luminance
Cntrl-alt-tilde, cntrl-shift-I to invert, cntrl-j, set layer to multiply and fade, to increase contrast in sky tones.
Select blacks, save selection
Make levels adjustment layer from black selection, adjust to increase contrast and pull a hair of detail from foreground.
Invert above selection, new levels adjustment layer, make the sky richer
A trace of dodging in the foreground under the tree.
I have a full-size jpg if you want it.
