Here are some pictures I took that compares the telephoto and the wide angle lens I bought on ebay for 50 dollars. The lenses are made by opteka and say they are made in japan on them.

I find that the 2x telephoto lens is a piece of shit. I mean it is so bad that I may just through it out.

The telephoto lens however is not bad for the 50 dollars I spent. The image quality is still there, and it gives me quite a bit larger view.

Andrew,

I have oredered the Sony .7 wide angle and 1.7 telephoto converters for my F717. I should receive them shortly. When I receive them I will post comparison results so you can decide if you may want to go for the OEM version of these converters. They were $200 each from eTechWarehouse.com.

Huh? I think you have a typo.

I'm not sure if you cropped the photos, but it looks like the with Wide angle and without are almost the same focal length. It's hard to tell the quality since the photos have been resized.

You should look at the other wide angle view I posted.
It gives a better idea of how much the wide angle increases the view. The wide angle picture you looked at was enlarged and then cropped to compare the quality of the image soley.

Yes I did see that, but it looks like there is only a couple of degrees more on each side to me. I could be wrong, but I would have expected more.

Then again you never stated the magnification. I was just assuming it was .5 or .45 which is avalible for my camera.

Oh I see it on the Photo description. It is a .5

Also I would try teh telephoto without the Digital zoom. I hate digital zoom. I (almost) never use it. Especially more than 2x.

yeah I have nothing to compare the supposive .5 view with. but at least the image quality is there.

That is the telephoto without the digital zoom just 5x optical zoom.

The digital zoom was in comparison and is better than the telephoto.
