Hi! *waves*

Just signed up for this place about a half hour ago, and I just recently uploaded some photos into my portfolio. If you have any spare time, would you mind critiquing them and letting me know how I can improve. I used to work at Sears Portrait Studio, so my technique is mostly what I learned from there as far as portraits go. I'd like to start a little part time business taking portraits and doing odd jobs with my fun new camera.

About me: I'm a certified teacher during the day. I work one-on-one with a special needs child and he's a joy (most days!;)). During the evenings/weekends, I work at a place that serves people with disabilities. I enjoy both of my jobs immensely, but also need an outlet and a hobby that I enjoy. I'm married (2 years) and no kids yet. All of the kids in my portfolio are kids of friends (which I've gotten permission by their mom to use).

Thanks in advance for any help! I already enjoy this site and am addicted to it!

Mary:)

Mark and Jonah are my favorites because of the good colors and focus.
Very nice efforts. Welcome to DPC, you will have a great time in this site.

faith is definitely my favorite of them. the focus is a bit off and the photo is maybe a little underexposed, but i think its great. i'd say maybe a wider shot to show more of that luscious green grass and to keep her foot inside the frame.

welcome to DPC!

Mary welcome to DPC!

I like this shot:

The lighting, sharpness and composition look nice.
Look forward to seeing more of your work.

Welcome to the insanity, Mary! As someone else will no doubt tell you in a few minutes--I'd suggest escaping while you still have time...before you get addicted to that little update button...

Some nice shots in your portfolio too. Looks like maybe your WB was a little off in a couple of them, tho. They look a little on the cool side.
But yeah. Welcome!

Mary, Mary, Mary! What have you done??

You are a member now, you have forsaken your chance of living a sane life. There is no way out for you now, you will be sucked under the control of the SC...you will live for the update button and never sleep soundly again! You will start hearing noises in the night, but it is only them making sure you are secure.

Flee! while you still have the chance, for they will force you deeper within their snare of crazed insanity. Wait, I hear them coming with my medicine...the nice pink pills that make me forget what I was going to sa....

ROFLMAO!! It's okay... I'm well stocked on pills for addictions... I'm addicted to another site too. It's a good thing that I started photography, because for most of my shots I have to get off my *beep* and go outside or talk to people in the civilized world. *thumbs up* I'm covered! ;)

Well, as a fellow educator, I welcome you here to our asylum site with open arms. It's just like school...complete with cliques, bickering, whining, foot-stomping, name-calling, tattle-telling, lecturing, and the occasional comic relief. The only difference is that you can walk away and not get fired! ;)

OK, I exaggerated a bit...but it's a wonderful place and we have TONS of fun. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Welcome and I can't wait to see your challenge entries!!
