i was thinking canon cause ive seemed to like them more over the years but i cant decide if i want the 350d or save money and go w\ the 300d...any suggestions, i have read both of their reviews on dpreview.com and i cant make a decision, they both seem like great cameras and there both in my price range...any comments are helpful.

If it was me, I'd get the 300D and use the extra money for glass.

Get a used 300D because once you master it you will want whatever will be replacing the 20D in the next year or two.

I started out with a 300D, then upgraded to the 20D.

I think (based off specs) if I started with the 350D I would not have upgraded for a few years.

So, go cheap now & spend more later or spend more now and save later. Your Choice.

Have you actually gone to a shop and tried one out? Or any of the lower end DSLR's? You might want to before taking the plunge.

That's good. You have to feel them in your hand and go with what is intuitve for you. All four entry level DSLR brands are close enough that "bonding" is more meaingful. Assuming of course you ahve no glass as yet.

There are actually 5 brands. Canon (with 300/350D), Nikon (D50/D70), Pentax (istDL/Ds), Konica-Minolta (5D/7D), and Olympus (E-300)

Never buy something you don’t want just to save money. You’ll just end up buying what you really want later spending twice as much money.
